Ștefan Procopiu
Ștefan Procopiu (; January 19, 1890 â€“ August 22, 1972) was a Romanian physicist and a titular member of the Romanian Academy. Biography Procopiu was born in 1890 in Bârlad, Romania. His father, Emanoil Procopiu, was employed at the Bârlad courthouse. His mother, Ecaterina TaÈ™că, was the sister of Gheorghe TaÈ™că (see TaÈ™că family). He attended the Gheorghe RoÈ™ca Codreanu High School in Bârlad from 1901 to 1908, continuing his studies at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of IaÈ™i from 1908 to 1912. After graduation he became assistant to Professor Dragomir Hurmuzescu. In 1919 he obtained a scholarship to continue his studies at the University of Paris, attending courses of famous scientists, such as Gabriel Lippmann, Marie Curie, Paul Langevin, and Aimé Cotton. Bârlad
Bârlad () is a city in Vaslui County, Romania. It lies on the banks of the river Bârlad (river), Bârlad, which waters the high plains of Western Moldavia. At Bârlad the railway from Iași diverges, one branch skirting the river Siret (river), Siret, the other skirting the Prut; both reunite at Galați. Charles Fabry
Marie Paul Auguste Charles Fabry (; 11 June 1867 – 11 December 1945) was a French physicist working on optics. Together with Alfred Pérot he invented the Fabry–Pérot interferometer. He is also one of the co-discoverers of the ozone layer. Biography Charles Fabry was born in Marseille in 1867. He was the brother of astronomer Louis Fabry and mathematician Eugène Fabry. Paul Langevin
Paul Langevin (23 January 1872 – 19 December 1946) was a French physicist who developed Langevin dynamics and the Langevin equation. He was one of the founders of the '' Comité de vigilance des intellectuels antifascistes'', an anti-fascist organization created after the 6 February 1934 far right riots.
