Šešupė
The Šešupė (); ; ; ) is a 298 km long riverŠešupė ''VLE'' that flows through Poland (27 km), Lithuania (158 km), and Russia (62 km). The river flows for 51 km along the Lithuania–Russia border, border between the Kaliningrad Oblast, an exclave of Russia, and Lithuania. The Šešupė originates near the Polish town of Szeszupka, about 16 km from the Polish-Lithuanian border, and flows into the Neman River, Nemunas, near the town of Neman (town), Neman, on the border between Lithuania and Kaliningrad Oblast. Major towns and cities along the river, from the Nemunas to the source, are: Kudirkos Naumiestis, Pilviškiai, Marijampolė, and Kalvarija, Lithuania, Kalvarija. Neman River
Neman, Nemunas or Niemen is a river in Europe that rises in central Belarus and flows through Lithuania then forms Lithuania–Russia border, the northern border of Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia's western exclave, which specifically follows its southern channel. Pilviškiai (, ''Pilveshok'') is a town in Vilkaviškis district municipality and in Marijampolė County History In the Jewish world, it was notable for being the first rabbinic post held by Rabbi Yechiel Yaakov Weinberg, who married and soon after divorced the daughter of the town's previous rabbi. In August 1941, the Jewish men of Pilviškiai district were shot. The mass murder was perpetrated by an ''Einsatzgruppe'' of Germans and Pilviškiai self-defence police unit. The victims were about 300 to 350 Jewish men and several dozen Soviet activists (including a group of girls from the Communist Youth organization).
