Şahna, Erdemli
Şahna is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Erdemli, Mersin Province, Turkey. Its population is 260 (2022). The village is situated in the peneplane area to the north of Çukurova (Cilicia) plains. The distance to Erdemli is and the distance to Mersin is . According to village dwellers, the original name of the village was ''Şahane yer'' ("Wonderful place") referring to the beautiful forest scenery around the village. It was founded 200 years ago by Yörüks (then nomadic Turkmen people) from Alanya. A part of the village named Üzümlü Üzümlü ( is a municipality (belde) and seat of Üzümlü District of Erzincan Province in Turkey. It had a population of 8,325 in 2021. It is divided into the neighborhoods of Babacan, Bahçeşehir, Ciminlibaba, Çavuşlu, Çay, Fatih, Geyik ... recently issued from the village. Erdemli
Erdemli is a municipality and district of Mersin Province, Turkey. Its area is 2,279 km2, and its population is 151,928 (2022). It is west of the city of Mersin. Geography Erdemli is located between the districts of Mezitli (to the east) and Silifke (to the west). In the north, Erdemli is bordered by Karaman Province and in the south by the Mediterranean Sea. The district extends from the Mediterranean coastal plain, the largest agricultural area in Mersin Province, to high in the Taurus Mountains where there is forest, and then a large area (half the land area of the district) is high mountain above the treeline. Yörüks
The Yörüks, also Yuruks or Yorouks (; , ''Youroúkoi''; ; , ''Juruci''), are a Turkish ethnic subgroup of Oghuz descent, some of whom are nomadic, primarily inhabiting the mountains of Anatolia, and partly in the Balkan peninsula.
