Şahin (other)
Şahin (; ) is a Turkish and Tatar name of Persian origin that means "hawk" or "falcon" in Persian. This surname has been attributed to individuals and families of different ethnicities, religions and minorities, in the territories of the Republic of Turkey after the fall of the multiethnic Ottoman Empire, following the enactment of the 1934 Surname Law. Variations include the name Shahin, which may be after the 14th century Jewish poet, and Chahine, amongst Christians in Lebanon. Ramazan Şahin (born Ramzan Irbaikhanov, , on 8 July 1983) is a Russian- Turkish freestyle wrestler. He won gold medals at the 2007 World Championships, 2008 European Championships, and 2008 Summer Olympics, placing fifth in 2012. Nuri Şahin (; born January 1, 1980) is a Turkish volleyball player. He is tall at , and plays as libero. He capped 155 times for the Turkey men's national volleyball team. As of 2012-13 season, Şahin plays for Halkbank Ankara and wears number 5. He studied at Marmara University. Born on January 1, 1980, in Tokat, Şahin began playing volleyball in primary school. Nuri Şahin
Nuri Şahin (born 5 September 1988) is a German and Turkish professional football manager and former player who played as a midfielder. He was most recently head coach of Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund. He began his playing career at Dortmund, spending six years there – including a year-long loan at Feyenoord – and winning the Bundesliga in 2011 before signing for Real Madrid in 2011 for €10 million. In August 2012, Şahin agreed to a one-year loan deal with Liverpool, which was terminated in January 2013 to allow him to return to Dortmund on an 18-month loan. Metin Şahin
Metin Şahin (born January 10, 1963) is a Turkish taekwondo practitioner. He is a former European champion. He served as the President of the Turkish Taekwondo Federation in 2003–2024 and at the same time, he was appointed as dean of Selçuk University Faculty of Sports Sciences. Mehmet Ali Şahin
Mehmet Ali Şahin (born 16 September 1950) is a Turkish politician. He was the Speaker of the Parliament of Turkey from 2009 to 2011. He was a member of the parliament for three terms from Istanbul Province and from Antalya Province of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party).
