Ōno-ji
, also known as Ōno-dera is a Buddhist temples in Japan, Buddhist temple located in the Murō-Ōno neighborhood of the city of Uda, Nara. It belongs to the Murō-ji, Murōji-branch of Shingon Buddhism and its ''honzon'' is a statue of Maitreya , Miroku Bosatsu. The temple is located at the western entry to Muro-ji and is known for its rock-carved image of Miroku Bosatsu carved into a natural face on the bank of the Uda River, which was designated a Historic Sites of Japan, National Historic Site in 1934. Overview The origins of the temple are uncertain. According to the temple's legend, it was first established by the semi-legendary founder of Shugendō, En no Gyōja, in 681. In 824, Kūkai reconstructed the temple, and renamed it Jison-in Miroku-ji. Murōguchi-Ōno Station
is a passenger railway station located in the city of Uda, Nara, Uda, Nara Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by the private transportation company, Kintetsu Railway. Line Murōguchi-Ōno Station is served by the Osaka Line and is 57.2 kilometers from the starting point of the line at . Layout The station is an above-ground station with two opposing side platforms and two tracks.
