The DR 130 family of locomotives comprises the DR Class 130 (''DBAG Class 230''), DR Class 131 (''DBAG Class 231''), DR Class 132 (''DBAG Class 232'' as well as Classes ''233'', ''234'' and ''241'' produced through modifications) and DR Class 142 (''DBAG Class 242''), in USSR locomotive called TE109 (DBAG 230/1/2) and TE129 (DBAG 242). They were produced in the Soviet Union in Luhansk, Ukraine, from the 1970s onwards, and were imported into the German Democratic Republic, GDR. After the reunification of Germany the Deutsche Bahn (DBAG) inherited them and continue to make use of them mainly as heavy freight locomotives. Nicknamed Ludmila (given name), ''Ludmilla'', over 700 units were produced between 1970 and 1982. Two of these machines are classed as works vehicles with the designation Class 754. DB Class V 200
DB Class V 200 (also known as Class 220) was the first series production diesel-hydraulic express locomotive of the German Deutsche Bundesbahn and – as Am 4/4 – of the SBB-CFF-FFS in Switzerland. History DB Service Five prototypes of the V 200 were built by Krauss-Maffei in 1953/1954. Full production began in 1956, with 61 engines being built by Krauss-Maffei and 20 by MaK. These five V 200 prototypes were put through extensive testing, the aim being to ensure the production locomotives would be as reliable as the technology and maintenance standards of the 1950s allowed. VES-M Halle
The Versuchs- und Entwicklungsstelle Maschinenwirtschaft in Halle, Germany, (VES-M Halle) was a railway research and development department working for the engineering head office of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) in East Germany after the Second World War. It worked closely with the Railways Institute (''Institut für Eisenbahnwesen''). Amongst other things, all rolling stock intended for deployment on the DR railway network, whether built in Germany or abroad, was thoroughly tested here. Loading tests with measurement trains on the open line, starting tests on the Berlin outer ring and other task were carried out by this special division of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. Annealing (metallurgy)
In metallurgy and materials science, annealing is a heat treatment that alters the physical and sometimes chemical properties of a material to increase its ductility and reduce its hardness, making it more workable. It involves heating a material above its recrystallization temperature, maintaining a suitable temperature for an appropriate amount of time and then cooling. In annealing, atoms migrate in the crystal lattice and the number of dislocations decreases, leading to a change in ductility and hardness. As the material cools it recrystallizes.
