İstif-class Frigate
The ''Istif''-class frigates are a group of eight multirole frigates currently being constructed for the Turkish Naval Forces. Developed under the MILGEM project, MILGEM national warship program as the I-class frigate, the ''Istanbul'' class is an enlarged version of the anti-submarine corvette, with enhanced endurance and MIDLAS Vertical Launching System vertical launching system, (VLS) for multi-role capability. Bosporus
The Bosporus or Bosphorus Strait ( ; , colloquially ) is a natural strait and an internationally significant waterway located in Istanbul, Turkey. HISAR (surface To Air Missile System)
Hisar (''Fortress'') is a family of Short range air defense, short, High to medium air defense surface-to-air missile systems being developed by Roketsan and Aselsan since 2007. Laying the keel or laying down is the formal recognition of the start of a shipbuilding, ship's construction. It is often marked with a ceremony attended by dignitaries from the shipbuilding company and the ultimate owners of the ship. The lead ship, name ship, or class leader is the first of a series or class of ships that are all constructed according to the same general design. The term is applicable to naval ships and large civilian vessels. Large ships are very complex and may take five to ten years to build. Improvements based on experience with building and operating the lead ship are likely to be incorporated into the design or construction of later ships in the class, so it is rare to have vessels that are identical.
