İZBAN A.Ş.
İZBAN, previously known as Egeray, is a commuter rail system serving İzmir and its metropolitan area. Averaging a daily ridership of 185,000 passengers, it is the busiest commuter rail system in Turkey, slightly ahead of the Marmaray commuter line in Istanbul. İZBAN is a portmanteau of the words "İzmir" and "Banliyö" (''suburb'' in Turkish). Established in 2007 and began operations in 2010, İZBAN was formed to revive old commuter rail in İzmir. , İZBAN operates a long system, with 41 stations. İZBAN A.Ş., founded in 2006, operates the railway and is owned 50% by the Turkish State Railways and 50% by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. İZBAN is a part of the municipality's transportation master plan. Ulukent (İZBAN)
Ulukent is a railway station on the İzmir-Afyon railway, in Menemen, İzmir. Located along the State road D.550 (Turkey), D.550 highway, it is a station on the İZBAN commuter rail system. The station is within the Central line of the İZBAN network, with trains running north to Menemen railway station, Menemen and Aliağa railway station, Aliağa; and south to Alsancak railway station, Alsancak, Cumaovası railway station, Cumaovası and Tepeköy railway station, Tepeköy. History Ulukent station was originally opened on 10 October 1865, by the Smyrna Cassaba Railway, with the opening of their railway from Basmane railway station, Basmane to Manisa. Karşıyaka () is a municipality and district of İzmir Province, Turkey. Its area is 51 km2, and its population is 346,264 (2022). Menemen () is a municipality and district of İzmir Province, Turkey. Its area is 573 km2, and its population is 200,904 (2022). The district extends on a fertile plain formed by the alluvial soil carried by the Gediz River. Torbalı
Torbalı () is a municipality and district of İzmir Province, Turkey. Its area is 577 km2, and its population is 207,840 (2022). An ancient Ionian city, Metropolis, is found in the district. Tepeköy Railway Station
Tepeköy railway station is a railway station in Torbalı and is the southern terminus for AliaÄŸa and Menemen outbound trains of the İZBAN. The station was originally opened on 14 November 1861 by the Oriental Railway Company. Between 2015 and 2016, Tepeköy was rebuilt and expanded from a one track station to three tracks to service commuter trains (İZBAN). A low-level side platform serves one track with 16 daily regional trains running between Basmane Terminal in İzmir and destinations southeast and a high-level island platform serves two tracks for İZBAN commuter trains to AliaÄŸa, Menemen and Selçuk. Menemen Railway Station
Menemen railway station () is a railway station at Menemen in İzmir Province, Turkey. The station is served by the Turkish State Railways, the national rail carrier of Turkey. The station is serviced by six trains daily. Northbound TCDD trains go to either Bandırma, Ankara, Afyon or Uşak and southbound TCDD trains all go to Basmane Terminal in İzmir. North of the station, the double track branch line to Aliağa splits from the main line. The original station was built in 1866 by the Smyrna Cassaba Railway.
