VRT 1 is a public Dutch-language TV station in Belgium, owned by the VRT, which also owns Ketnet, VRT Canvas and several radio stations. Although the channel is commercial-free, short sponsorship messages are broadcast in between some programmes. VRT 1 focuses on drama, entertainment, news and current affairs in a similar vein to BBC One in the United Kingdom. The station was formerly known as TV1 until 21 January 2005, when the Eén () branding was launched as part of a major station revamp, with a look created by BBC Broadcast. De bedenkers was a Belgian television show aired on één that pitted inventors against each other for €25,000 in prize money and a chance to release their product into the market. The show ran two series and was presented by Bart Peeters and Sofie Van Moll. The show was financially supported in part by the Flemish government. Format Around 2,000 people applied to the show each year and 100 were chosen to participate. There was a wide range of age, with the first series having contestants between 11 and 83 years old. 75 inventors were eliminated in the 6th episode and the remaining 25 were split into 5 groups of 5 to compete in the semi-finals. The inventors were given 6 months to continue developing their project. One finalist from each of the 5 groups (4 in the second series) was chosen by the jury and the audience voted for the winner. Ketnet is a Flemish public children's television channel in Belgium owned and operated by the Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie, VRT, Flemish public broadcaster. Fata Morgana (game Show)
Fata Morgana was a Flemish television show which ran for five series between 2004 and 2008. It could be classified as a game show, though there were no prizes to be won. Each episode, a local celebrity would issue a series of five themed challenges to a particular town or city, usually tasks which required a great deal of manpower and creativity. The inhabitants of the competing town or city had roughly six days to complete these task, ending in an event on Saturday afternoon where their efforts were judged, and symbolic "gold stars" were awarded for each task successfully completed.
