èViva (in English: ''It is alive'') was an Italian left-wing political party. History èViva was founded by Francesco Laforgia (member of Article One) and Luca Pastorino (member of Possible) on 13 April 2019. The name of the movement has been chosen via an online-poll. For the 2019 European Parliament election èViva joins the electoral alliance '' The Left'', with Italian Left, Communist Refoundation and the Party of the South. The Left, that joined the GUE/NGL group, got only the 1.8%, without exceeding the 4%-barrier-threshold, so it didn't get any seat. For the 2020 regional election èViva joined many lists: in Tuscany "Tuscany to the Left" to support Tommaso Fattori, in Campania "Earth", in Apulia "Solidary and Green Apulia" to support Michele Emiliano, in Liguria "Shared Line" to support Ferruccio Sansa, in Emilia-Romagna "Brave Emilia-Romagna" (Elly Schlein's list) to support Stefano Bonaccini. Francesco Laforgia
Francesco Laforgia (born 1 February 1978) is an Italian academic and politician. Early life and education Born in Grumo Appula, Laforgia graduated in Economics and Social Sciences at the Bocconi University in 2002, specializing in innovation economics. He spent several periods of study and work abroad, where he perfected his knowledge of English and Spanish. After graduating, he continued to work in the university following several research projects, which were published by international journals. He received his PhD in Economics of Production and Development at the University of Insubria in Varese and taught Economics in several universities in Milan, Varese, Brescia, and Castellanza. Luca Pastorino
Luca Pastorino (born 30 September 1971) is an Italian politician and a member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies since 2013. In 2019, he co-founded èViva with Francesco Laforgia. Biography Graduated in Business Economics at the University of Genoa, Pastorino began his career in 2000 as a financial advisor, but his political career had already begun a few years earlier: from 1997 to 2006 he has been a city councilor in Bogliasco. In 2006, Pastorino has been elected Mayor of Bogliasco, supported by the centre-left coalition of The Union and held his seat for two consecutive terms, from 2006 to 2016. The Left () was a left-wing coalition of political parties in Italy which took part in the 2019 European Parliament election. Its main members were Italian Left and the Communist Refoundation Party. DiEM25
The Democracy in Europe Movement 2025, or DiEM25, is a left-wing European political alliance founded in 2016. It operates as a pan-European umbrella for subsidiary parties sharing the same name and branding (e.g. MeRA25, MERA25), and runs electoral lists with other affiliated parties. Despite its organisation and sometimes being referred to as a "European party" or "transnational party", DiEM25 does not meet the requirements to register as a European political party. DiEM25 was founded by a group of Europeans, including Yanis Varoufakis and Srećko Horvat. The 2023 Democratic Party leadership election was a Partisan primary, primary election that was held in Italy in February 2023 to elect the National Assembly and secretary of the Italian Democratic Party (Italy), Democratic Party (PD).
