Darhan Satybaldy
Darhan Amangeldiūly Satybaldy (; born 26 March 1974) is a Kazakh politician and diplomat currently serving as the äkim of Almaty since 24 May 2025. He previously served as the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan. Satybaldy has held several key government positions throughout his career. From 2022 to 2025, he served as äkim of the Turkistan Region and from 2019 to 2022, he was Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Uzbekistan, contributing to stronger bilateral ties. He also served in the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan from 2018 to 2019 and as äkim of Shymkent from 2013 to 2015. An ''akim'' (, , әкімдер / ''äkimder''; ; , ) is the head of a local government in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. ''Akim'' is derived from the Arabic word '' hakim'', which means "ruler" or "governor". Erbolat Asqarbekūly Dosaev ( , , ; born 21 May 1970) is a Kazakh politician who served as äkim of Almaty from 2022 to 2025. He previously held the position of Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan from 2019 to 2022 and was Deputy Prime Minister from 2017 to 2019. Dosaev has held several ministerial roles in finance, healthcare, and economic development throughout his career. Dosaev graduated with a degree in engineering and economics. He began his professional career in the private sector during the 1990s before transitioning to government service. In 2000, he was appointed Minister of Energy, Industry, and Trade. Bakhytzhan Sagintayev
Bakhytzhan Abdiruly Sagintayev (, , , ; born 13 October 1963) is a Kazakh politician who was a Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, from 9 September 2016 until his resignation on 21 February 2019. He served as the Äkim of Almaty from 28 June 2019 until he was replaced by Erbolat Dosaev on 31 January 2022 following the 2022 Kazakh unrest which greatly affected the city.
