Ümit Yılbar
Ümit Yılbar (1966, Kadıköy, Istanbul - 25 September 1993, BaÄŸgöze, Siirt) was a Turkish musician and guitarist. Yılbar, one of the guitarists of Pentagram, one of Turkey's famous heavy metal bands, voluntarily became a commando while performing his military service as a sub-lieutenant, and died at the age of 27 during a conflict with the PKK in an operation he participated in on 25 September 1993. His body is in Edirnekapı Martyrdom. In memory of Yılbar, who was also the guitar teacher of Gökhan ÖzoÄŸuz from the Athena, Athena band dedicated the album ''One Last Breath'' and Pentagram band dedicated the song Fly Forever from their second album Trail Blazer to him. Kadıköy () is a municipality and Districts of Turkey, district on the Asian side of Istanbul Province, Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 25 km2, and its population is 467,919 (2023). Athena (band)
Athena is a rock/ska band from Istanbul, Turkey, founded by twin brothers Hakan Özoğuz (guitar and backing vocals) and Gökhan Özoğuz (lead vocals and guitar) in 1987. It is regarded as one of the best Turkish rock groups by many listeners. They have released 8 albums and featured as the Turkish entry to the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "For Real", finishing fourth. Band history Foundation and rise in popularity (1997–2000) Athena (ah-T'hěn-ah) was formed by twin brothers Gökhan Özoğuz and Hakan Özoğuz as a thrash metal band in 1987. Mezarkabul (also known as Pentagram in Turkey) is a Turkish metal band formed by Hakan Utangaç and Cenk Ünnü. Mezarkabul is known for integrating Anatolian elements into their music. History Mezarkabul was formed in Istanbul in 1986 by guitarist Hakan Utangaç and drummer Cenk Ünnü. In 1987, bassist Tarkan Gözübüyük joined, and they started doing live shows. Their first show was performed at a wedding hall in Istanbul, Bağcılar. Tarkan Gozubuyuk could not make it to the concert and instead Ozgunay Unal joined the line up for the concert. By the time they made to their fifth song most of chairs and tables had been destroyed by the audience. Turkey was meeting metal music and by their crazy emotions this chaotic action happened.
