Ümit Yesin
Mehmet Ümit Yesin (January 28, 1954 – March 19, 2019) was a Turkish stage and film actor. Yesin was best known for his portrayals as Şeker Kazım on ''Çiçek Taksi'', Duran Ertürk on ''Akasya Durağı'', and Korkut Bozok in ''Yeni Gelin''. Mainly in supporting comedic roles, Yesin appeared in over 100 film and television productions during his career. Early life Yesin was born on January 28, 1954, in Ankara. Yesin and his family would back and forth frequently between Ankara and Istanbul before settling in Istanbul in 1969. Career Encouraged by Muammer Karaca, Yeshin began his acting studies at the Bakırköy Municipal Theater in 1970. Yeshin made his film debut in the 1985 Şerif Gören film Kurbağalar. Personal life Yesin married Turkish actress Evin Esen in 1987. The couple divorced in 2011. Death Yesin died on March 19, 2019, following a heart valve surgery he underwent a month prior. ''Akasya Durağı'' was a Turkish comedy television series on Kanal D, which initially broadcast in 2008. Overview The story is about Nuri (mostly called Dad, because of his age), an old, wise and kind man and his taxi company called Akasya Durağı. As he is a retired man, the story circles mostly around the taxi drivers, the tea maker-office boy, their family and their friends, with situations where they end up in jail, in between mafia shootouts and in other comedic but also adventurous circumstances. Bakırköy
Bakırköy is a neighbourhood, municipality and district on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey. The quarter is densely populated, has a residential character and is inhabited by an upper middle class population. The municipality of Bakırköy is much larger than the quarter and also includes several other neighbourhoods, such as Yeşilköy, Yeşilyurt, Ataköy. Şerif Gören
Şerif Gören ( el, Σερίφ Γκιορέν, Seríf Gkiorén, born 1944 in Xanthi, Greece) is a Turkish film director. Aside from important movies under his own signature, he is also the winner of the Palme d'Or ("Golden Palm") award in Cannes Film Festival in 1982 for the film ''Yol'', which he had directed on behalf of Yılmaz Güney, who at the time was serving a prison sentence for the murder of Yumurtalık judge Sefa Mutlu. Gören started his film career as an editor, and then continued as an assistant director to Yılmaz Güney. He and Güney started directing "''Endişe''" (The Anxiety) in 1974, in the beginning of which Güney was arrested and sent to prison. Gören continued directing Endişe, which makes Endişe as the first film directed mainly by him. Kadıköy Haldun Taner Stage
Kadıköy Haldun Taner Stage ( tr, Kadıköy Haldun Taner Sahnesi) is a theatre venue located in Kadıköy district of Istanbul, Turkey. It is owned by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and operated by its City Theatres (''Şehir Tiyatroları'') division. The theatre is named in honor of the Turkish playwright Haldun Taner (1915-1986). Situated on the landing square (İskele Meydanı), the building, which hosts the theatre today, was constructed as the first modern market hall in Istanbul between 1925 and 1927. However, it stood vacant for a period of ten years since the traders in the agricultural marketing business did not want to be tenant. In order to utilize the vacant building, some parts of it was used by the fire department, and some parts served as depot for scrap vehicles.
