Úna Ní Bhroin
Úna Ní Bhroin (died 5 February 1706/7), was a Gaelic poet. Biography Úna Ní Bhroin was a Gaelic poet. She married Seán Ó Neachtain, poet and scholar. They had three children, Tadhg Tadhg, also Taḋg ( , ), (pronunciations given for the name ''Tadhg'' separately from those for the slang/pejorative ''Teague''.) commonly anglicized as Taig, "Taig" or "Teague", is an Irish language, Irish and Scottish Gaelic masculine name t ..., Lúcás, and Anna, and lived in the Liberties near Thomas Street in Dublin. She wrote about 1670 and died on February 5 in either 1706 or 1707. She was believed to be a friend of Máire Ní Reachtagáin and a relation of Edmund Byrne, archbishop of Dublin 1707–24. Seán Ó Neachtain (poet)
Seán Ó Neachtain (c. 1645/1650 – 9 March 1729) was an Irish poet and writer. Biography Ó Neachtain was a member of a family who originated in Máenmaige but were expelled to the Fews of Athlone by either the Ua Conchobhair Kings of Connacht or the de Burgh Earls of Ulster. Seán Ó Neachtain was born at Cluain Oileáin in County Roscommon, sometime between about 1645 and 1650, during the latter stages of the Irish Confederate Wars. He left Cluain Oileáin for Dublin as a young man, perhaps as early as 1670 but certainly at a point before 1690. Personal life Ó Neachtain was married twice, firstly to Una Nagle, who died about 1703. His second spouse was Úna Ní Bhroin, apparently a relative of Edmund Byrne, Archbishop of Dublin. Tadhg Ó Neachtain
Tadhg Ó Neachtain (c.1670 – c.1752) was an Irish writer, scribe and lexicographer. Origins Described as "the wikt:fulcrum, fulcrum of the Clique, coterie of Irish language scholars who were working in Dublin in the early years of the eighteenth century" (2009, p. 821), Ó Neachtain was the son of Seán Ó Neachtain (poet), Seán Ó Neachtain, who had moved from his native County Roscommon sometime between 1670 and 1691. Tadhg was apparently his eldest son, by Seán's first wife, Una Nagle (died c. 1703), perhaps born in Dublin itself, where he was to spend most of his adult life. The Ó Neachtain Circle Between 1726 and 1728, Tadhg wrote an Irish poem which named twenty-six scholars of his acquaintance, all of whom are now included among what is retrospectively called ''The Ó Neachtain Circle''. Máire Ní Reachtagáin
Máire Ní Reachtagáin (died 11 April 1733) was a Gaelic poet. Biography Máire Ní Reachtagáin was a Gaelic poet. She married Tadhg Ó Neachtain in 1717. Very little is known about her except for notes left by her husband. She was from Dublin city though the eulogy of her death asks for laments from Meath County Meath ( ; or simply , ) is a Counties of Ireland, county in the Eastern and Midland Region of Republic of Ireland, Ireland, within the Provinces of Ireland, province of Leinster. It is bordered by County Dublin to the southeast, County ... suggesting she may have been born there. Only a handful of her work remains. In her lament for her brother Saoirse she wrote in the third person and structured it in quatrains. Edmund Byrne (bishop)
Edmund Byrne (1656-1724) was the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Dublin from 1707 until his death. Bryne was born in Borris, County Carlow.
