Ørestad Development Corporation
The Ørestad Development Corporation ( da, Ørestadsselskabet I/S) was a company responsible for urban redevelopment of Ørestad south of Copenhagen, Denmark. The company was authorized by the Ørestad Act passed in 1992, and was established in 1993, co-owned by the Copenhagen Municipality (55%) and the Ministry of Finance (45%). It was also responsible for building parts of the Copenhagen Metro. The company was dissolved in 2007. Its Metro-related activities were taken over by the Metro Corporation ( da, Metroselskabet), a newly formed company that consolidated ownership and operation of the Copenhagen Metro. Ørestad
Ørestad () is a developing city area in Copenhagen, Denmark, on the island of Amager. The area was developed using the new town concept, closely linked with the M1 line of the Copenhagen Metro. Economically, income for the plan would be generated by selling the public-owned, unused land for development, thus financing the construction of the metro, and contrarily, metro access was deemed necessary for making development attractive. While the metro is the primary public transport access, the area is also served by the Øresund Line between Copenhagen and Malmö, the motorway E20 and close to Copenhagen Airport. Ørestad was originally planned to consist of four districts, however only three are developed: Ørestad Nord, the unbuilt Amager Fælled area (which will remain a nature reserve), Ørestad City and Ørestad Syd. The Ministry of Finance of Denmark ( Danish: Finansministeriet) is a ministry in the Government of Denmark. Among other things, it is in charge of the government budget (subject to approval by the Danish parliament, ''Folketinget''), paying government employees and improving efficiency in government administration. The current Finance Minister of Denmark is Nicolai Wammen. The Ministry of Finance was established on 24 November 1848. The Copenhagen Metro ( da, Københavns Metro, ) is a 24/7 rapid transit system in Copenhagen, Denmark, serving the municipalities of Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, and Tårnby. The original system opened in October 2002, serving nine stations on two lines: M1 and M2. In 2003 and 2007, the Metro was extended to Vanløse and Copenhagen Airport (Lufthavnen) respectively, adding an additional six plus five stations to the network. ''Den Store Danske Encyklopædi'' (''The Great Danish Encyclopedia'') is the most comprehensive contemporary Danish language encyclopedia. The 20 volumes of the encyclopedia were published successively between 1994 and 2001; a one-volume supplement was published in 2002 and two index volumes in 2003.
