Økern Manor
Økern was a farm in the former municipality of Aker, Norway, and is currently a district in the borough of Bjerke in the city of Oslo. It includes the neighborhoods of Refstad, Risløkka, Brobekk, Nordre Hovin, Aker Sykehus, Bjerkebanen, and Økern Senter. Infrastructure The district is served by the Grorud Line of the Oslo Metro. A larger business centre is located near the Økern Station. Among the institutions at Økern is the headquarters of the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund. The Alna Line, used for freight trains between the Trunk Line and the Gjøvik Line, from Alnabru to Grefsen, passes through Økern, close to the business centre of ''Økernsenteret''. Oslo ( or ; ) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of 1,064,235 in 2022, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age, the area was part of Viken. Oslo was founded as a city at the end of the Viking Age in 1040 under the name Ánslo, and established as a ''kaupstad'' or trading place in 1048 by Harald Hardrada. The city was elevated to a bishopric in 1070 and a capital under Haakon V of Norway around the year 1300. Personal unions with Denmark from 1397 to 1523 and again from 1536 to 1814 reduced its influence. After being destroyed by a fire in 1624, during the reign of King Christian IV, a new city was built closer to Akershus Fortress and named Christiania in honour of the king. Audun Hugleiksson
Audun Hugleiksson (Hestakorn) ({{circa 1240 – 2 December 1302) was a Norwegian nobleman at the end of the 13th century. He was the king's right hand, both under King Magnus Lagabøte and King Eirik Magnusson. He was seen as an important politician and lawman in his time and played a central role in reforming the Norwegian law system. Biography Audun Hugleiksson grew up on the farm Hegranes on Ålhus in Jølster which lies in what was the area of Firdafylke, (east of Førde and north of the Sognefjord). His father Hugleik seems to have been a lower nobleman and a member of King Håkon Håkonsson's hird (1204–1263). Hugleik himself probably did not himself have a very prominent position, but was still married to a woman of high standing from the east of Norway. Audun's mother was most likely the daughter of Audun i Borg (now Sarpsborg). Audun could then have traced a common lineage to Inga of Varteig (1185–1234), mother of King Håkon Håkonsson. A housing cooperative, or housing co-op, is a legal entity which owns real estate consisting of one or more residential buildings. The entity is usually a cooperative or a corporation and constitutes a form of housing tenure. Typically housing cooperatives are owned by shareholders but in some cases they can be owned by a non-profit organization. They are a distinctive form of home ownership that have many characteristics that differ from other residential arrangements such as single family home ownership, condominiums and renting. The cooperative is membership based, with membership granted by way of a share purchase in the cooperative. Each shareholder in the legal entity is granted the right to occupy one housing unit. A primary advantage of the housing cooperative is the pooling of the members' resources so that their buying power is leveraged; thus lowering the cost per member in all the services and products associated with home ownership. Nils Stian Stiansen
Nils Stian Stiansen (16 August 1900 – 25 July 1974) was a Norwegian building contractor. He was born in Fevik Fevik is a coastal village and popular seaside resort in the municipality of Grimstad, Agder County Municipality, Agder County, Norway. Situated along the Skagerrak, Skagerrak coast, Fevik lies approximately 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) northeast of ..., a son of Peder Stiansen and Inga Marie Knudsen. He operated as building contractor in Oslo from 1924, and constructed a number of residential houses and larger building complexes, a total of about 5,000 apartments. Among his projects were Bakkehaugen, Hoff Terrasse, Øvrevollkollektivet, Økernbråten and Tokerud. He also constructed the Embassy of the United States, Oslo, American Embassy and the American Lutheran Congregation, Oslo, American Lutheran Church in Oslo.
