Øbjerggaard
Øbjerggaard is a manor house and estate situated east of Køng, midway between Næstved and Vordingborg some south of Copenhagen, Denmark. One of 12 new manors created when Vordingborg Cavalry District was dissolved in 1774, it was initially the site of a textile factory established by Niels Ryberg. The current main building from the 1840s is now known as (New Øbjerggaard). The old headquarters of the textile factory, (Old Øbjerggaard), constructed by Ruberg in 1780 and listed on the Listed buildings in Vordingborg Municipality, Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1945, is now home to Køng Museum. The current owner of the estate, Peter Eriksen Oxholm Tillisch, resides at Rosenfeldt, his other estate, while Ny Øbjerggaard is operated as a bed and breakfast. Gerhard Faye
Gerhard Cassius Faye (8 March 1846 - 30 January 1917) was a Denmark, Danish pharmacist and factory manager. He was one of the key figures in the emerging sugar beet industry on Lolland-Falster in the late 19th century. Early life and education Faye was born on 8 March 1846 in Hobro, the son of customs inspector Ludvig Othar Christian Faye (1800–69) and Lovise Christine Jansen (1818–70). In 1861–65, he was an apprentice at the Swan Pharmacy in Aalborg. In 1865, he acquired the exam.pharm. degree. and spent one year at Brædstrup Pharmacy. He then continued to Copenhagen to continue his education, earning the Master of Pharmacy degree in 1867. Career Feye spent the next five years back at the Swan Pharmacy in Aalborg. In 1872, he returned to Copenhagen to work at Carlsberg Laboratory. The rigsdaler was the name of several currencies used in Denmark until 1875. The similarly named Reichsthaler, riksdaler and rijksdaalder were used in Germany and Austria-Hungary, Sweden and the Netherlands, respectively. Knuthenborg
Knuthenborg is a manor house located north of Maribo on the Danish island of Lolland. Originally known as Ã…rsmarke, it was first mentioned in 1372. Today's building was completed in 1866 to a design by Henrik Steffens Sibbern. The medieval manor of Ã…rsmarke, with its more than 300 years of history, was once Denmark's largest private estate; it is now part of Knuthenborg Safaripark. The exotic shrubs and trees planted during the era of the Counts of Knuthenborg are situated on the grounds. Geography The 2,000 acre estate is surrounded by beech forests. Ole Christian Saxtorph Sonne (21 April 1859 – 25 July 1941) was a Danish government minister and speaker of the Landsting, a chamber of the parliament. He was an elected member of the Landsting from the 1902 election until 1918. He was originally elected outside the parties in electoral coalition with the conservative party Højre, but joined the Free Conservatives in February 1904. Birkendegård
Birkendegård is a manor house and estate located 6 km east of Kalundborg. The two-storey, Renaissance Revival style main building is from 1954 and was designed by Christian Tybjerg. History Early history The name is first recorded as ''Byrchinge'' in 1663 when it was a under Roskiulde Bishopric. The name is later recorded as ''Birkingegaard''. The current name is most likely a corruption of the original name. At the Reformation in 1536, Birkendegård was confiscated by the crown along with all other property of the Catholic church. Due to its small size, it was placed under Kalundborg Castle. In 1672, Birkendegård was granted to Jørgen Bielke as compensation for his losses during the Second Northern War. In 1674, he was granted permission to dissolve the village and replace it by a single manor. This process was however not completed until 1700.
