Özcan Özel (;born 13 January 1959) was a Turkish politician and educator. In 2021, he joined the Homeland Party as Deputy Chairman. Personal life Özcan Özel was born on January 13, 1959, in the Karamürsel district of Kocaeli province. He is married and has two children. In March 2023, his daughter, Duyşen Kuş (39), who had been battling cancer for some time, passed away in the hospital where she was receiving treatment in Istanbul. Career and education Özel graduated from Bursa Institute of Education, Department of Mathematics in 1979. After completing his higher education, he worked as a mathematics teacher and principal in various educational institutions. He founded Yalova TAM Dershanesi, Together with Muharrem İnce. In 1987, he became a member of the Yalova district organization of the Social Democratic Populist Party. Karamürsel
Karamürsel is a municipality and Districts of Turkey, district of Kocaeli Province, Turkey. Its area is 262 km2, and its population is 59,676 (2022). It is on the south coast of the Gulf of İzmit. Before its conquest by the Ottoman Empire, Ottomans it used to be called by the Greek name of Praenetos (Πραινετός in Greek language, Greek). The modern name commemorates Kara Mürsel who founded the Ottoman navy and designed distinctive Galley, galley ships, called ''kadırgas,'' for it. Karamürsel holds special significance for the Turkish Navy, as it was here in 1323 that the Ottoman Empire first established an outlet to the sea, thus laying the foundations for the Ottoman Navy which would go on to dominate the eastern Mediterranean for several centuries. Muharrem İnce (; born 4 May 1964) is a Turkish physics teacher, school principal, sport executive, and politician. He is the founder and the incumbent leader of the Homeland Party since May 2021. Formerly a four term Republican People's Party () MP for Yalova, his hometown, he also served as the CHP's parliamentary group deputy chairman between June 2010 and August 2014. İnce has stood for election as CHP chairman twice against former chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu: first in September 2014 following the party's loss in the Turkish presidential election on 18 August 2014, and later in February 2018.
