Öxnered
Öxnered is a part of Vänersborg in Västra Götalands län in Sweden. It was formerly a separate railway village. It is located near the E45 road and at the crossing of the Norway/Vänern Line Norway/Vänern Line () is a Y-shaped railway line in Sweden. The main section runs from Gothenburg Central Station to Kil Station, mostly along the west shore of Vänern. Norway/Vänern Line
Norway/Vänern Line () is a Y-shaped railway line in Sweden. The main section runs from Gothenburg Central Station to Kil Station, mostly along the west shore of Vänern. There is a branch from Erikstad to the Norway–Sweden border at Kornsjø, from which it continues as the Østfold Line to Oslo. The lengths of the line are from Gothenburg to Erikstad, from Gothenburg to Kornsjø and from Gothenburg to Kil. The line is single track, except for the section from Gothenburg to Öxnered, which is double track. History The railways were finished in 1879. A shortcut at Erikstad was built for the Norway branch in 1995. The section from Gothenburg to Öxnered was rebuilt as a new double-track railway in the period 2005-2012. The current name was introduced in 1990. From the construction until then, the name was Bergslagen Line, between Gothenburg, through Kil, to Falun, later Gävle. Älvsborg Line
The Älvsborg Line () is a railway line between Uddevalla and Borås in Sweden. The long crescent-shaped line connects to various lines, including the Bohus Line, the Norway/Vänern Line, the Kinnekulle Line, the Western Main Line, the Coast-to-Coast Line and the Viskadal Line. Västtrafik runs regional train service on the whole line, usually with X12 trains. Due to its bad standard and slow speed, few freight trains use this line and instead travel via Gothenburg and the Western Main line. Some freight trains are diverted to this line when the Western Main Line is closed for maintenance. Vänersborg
Vänersborg () is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Vänersborg Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden with 23,882 inhabitants (out of a municipal total of 39,904) Until 1997 it was the capital of Älvsborg County, which merged into Västra Götaland County. Since 1999 Vänersborg has been the seat of the regional parliament for Region Västra Götaland. The city is located on the southern shores of lake Vänern, close to where the river Göta älv leaves the lake. History A marketplace was established at Brätte at the southern end of Vassbotten (southernmost part of Vänern), south of modern Vänersborg, by the end of the medieval period.
