Örlygur Aron Sturluson
Örlygur Aron Sturluson (21 May 1981 – 16 January 2000) was an Icelandic basketball player, who played for Njarðvík in the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild where he won the national championship in 1998. He started playing for the Icelandic national team in 1999 and was considered one of the most promising prospects in Icelandic basketball at the time of his death. Career Playing career Örlygur started playing basketball at the age of 8 with Ungmennafélag Njarðvíkur. He broke into the starting lineup of Úrvalsdeild powerhouse Njarðvík in 1997 at the age of 16. His first game came against ÍA where he had 10 points and 7 assists. He was a key player in Njarðvík's 1998 Icelandic championship run, averaging 15.0 points and 5.0 assists in the three game sweep of KR in the finals, including a 20 points, 9 assists and 6 steals performance in game two of the series. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the Basketball positions, five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position and is usually the shortest player on the court. Point guards are expected to control the pace of the game. Teitur Örlygsson (born 9 January 1967) is an Icelandic former professional basketball player and a coach. During his career he won the Icelandic national championships ten times with Njarðvík and the Icelandic Basketball Cup seven times. He spent the 1996–1997 season with Gymnastikos S. Larissas B.C. of the Greek Basketball League. Icelandic national team Between 1986 and 2000, Teitur played 118 games for the Icelandic national basketball team. Margrét Kara Sturludóttir (born 2 September 1989) is an Icelandic former basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic national basketball team. She won the Icelandic championship in 2008 and 2010 and was named the Úrvalsdeild Domestic Player of the Year in 2011.
