Ödenäs Church
Ödenäs Church () is a church in Ödenäs, Alingsås, Västergötland, Sweden. It belongs to the parish of Ödenäs, in the Diocese of Skara. Two former wooden churches preceded the current stone church, and one from the Middle Ages and also one from about 1700. The current church building was built in 1840 and designed by Fredrik Wilhelm Scholander Fredrik Wilhelm Scholander (June 23, 1816 – May 9, 1881) was a Swedish architect and artist. Alingsås
Alingsås () is a urban areas of Sweden, locality and the seat of Alingsås Municipality in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It had 24,482 inhabitants in 2010. Geography Geographically the city is situated by the outlet of the small rivulet Säveån into lake Mjörn (lake), Mjörn. Transportation links are provided by the western main line railway (''Västra stambanan'') between Stockholm and Gothenburg, and by motorway through the European route E20. Next to Alingsås you can also find a small village called Sollebrunn. History Alingsås was founded as inhabitants from the city Nya Lödöse were made homeless as Danish troops burnt it down. Gustavus Adolphus granted Alingsås its Royal Charter in 1619, which makes it older than Västra Götaland's largest city Gothenburg (which was granted its charter in 1621). Diocese Of Skara
The Diocese of Skara () is the oldest existing diocese in Sweden. It was originally a Latin bishopric of the Roman Catholic church, but since the Protestant Reformation has been a Lutheran diocese within the Church of Sweden, with its seat in Skara at Skara Cathedral. Fredrik Wilhelm Scholander
Fredrik Wilhelm Scholander (June 23, 1816 – May 9, 1881) was a Swedish architect and artist. Biography Fredrik Wilhelm Scholander was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He was the son of Georg Fredrik Scholander (1785–1825) and Karin Nyström (1786 -1866). His mother was the sister of architect Per Axel Nyström (1793–1868). He became fatherless at the age of nine, and his uncle then became his foster father. Scholander studied art in 1831 at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts. He settled in Paris during 1841, where for almost two years he was a student of Louis-Hippolyte Lebas (1782–1867) at École des Beaux-Arts. He was called in 1847 as vice-professor and became a full professor of architecture at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts in 1848. He trained many members of the next generation of Swedish architects, among them Helgo Zettervall (1831–1907) and Isak Gustaf Clason (1856–1930). Alingsås Municipality () is a municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the stad (Sweden), city of Alingsås. The present municipality was formed in 1974 then the former ''City of Alingsås'' (itself a municipality of unitary type since the subdivision reform of 1971) was amalgamated with Bjärke and Hemsjö.
