Ómar Torfason
Ómar Torfason (born 1 February 1959) is an Icelandic former professional footballer. He was part of the Icelandic men's national football team between 1981 and 1989. He played 39 matches, scoring 1 goal. He won the Icelandic championship three times, in 1981 and 1982 with Víkingur, and in 1988 with Fram. He won the Icelandic Cup with Fram in 1985 and 1989. In 1985 he was the Úrvalsdeild top scorer with 13 goals. Ísafjörður
Ísafjörður (pronounced , meaning ''ice fjord'', literally ''fjord of ices'') is a town in the northwest of Iceland. ''Morgunblaðið'' (, ''The Morning Paper'') is an Icelandic daily newspaper. ''Morgunblaðið''s website, mbl.is, is the most popular website in Iceland. It is currently the country's only daily printed newspaper and the newspaper of record. The Valur men's basketball team, commonly known as Valur, is a basketball team based in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is part of the Valur (club), Valur multi-sport club. History The club was founded as ''Gosi'' on 25 December 1951 and was one of the founding members of the Úrvalsdeild karla (basketball), Icelandic men's top division. On 22 December 1957 the club changed its name to ''Körfuknattleiksfélag Reykjavíkur'' (English: Reykjavík Basketball Club) and played under that name until 1970. Jón Oddsson
Jón Halldór Oddsson (born 25 January 1958) is an Icelandic former multi-sport athlete. He was a member of both the Icelandic men's national football team and the Icelandic track and field national team. Athletics Jón competed in track and field from the age of 18 until the age of 39, winning several Icelandic championships in long jump, triple jump, high jump, pentathlon and relay racing. He was first noticed on the national stage when he competed in the ''Meistaramót Íslands'' in 1978 where he medaled in long jump and triple Jump. Úrvalsdeild 1988
The Besta deild karla () is a professional association football league in Iceland and the highest level of the Icelandic football league system. The competition was founded in 1912 as the Icelandic Championship. Because of the harsh winters in Iceland, it is generally played in the spring and summer (April to September). It is governed by the Football Association of Iceland (KSÍ) and has 12 teams. By the end of the 2022–23 season, UEFA ranked the league No. 48 in Europe.
