Évariste Boshab Mabudj-ma-Bilenge (born 12 January 1956) is a Congolese politician who is currently Deputy Prime Minister in Charge of the Interior and Security and a former President of the National Assembly. Early life Boshab was born near Mweka, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Career He was President of the National Assembly from 2009 to 2012. Personal Sanctions On May 29, 2017 Boshab was sanctioned by the EU making him subject to travel ban and assets freeze in all EU jurisdictions due his involvement in commission and supervision of serious human rights violations and abuses during the September–December protests in Kinshasa. It was stated that in his capacity as Vice Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior and Security at the time he was supremely responsible for actions of police and security agents who committed various abuses and applied excessive force against demonstrators resulting in many being killed, injured or arbitrary detained. Mweka, Democratic Republic Of The Congo
Mweka is a town in southern-central Democratic Republic of the Congo, situated on the Kasai railway line between Kananga (250 km away) and the Kasai River port of Ilebo (172 km away). Mweka is also the headquarters of the Territoire de Mweka (administrative district which is one of the territories of the Democratic Republic of the Congo ) of the present Kasai Province. Its cathedral is the episcopal see of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Mweka. Transport When the rail connection to the Katanga line is functioning, trains reach Lubumbashi, 1,406 km to the south-east of Mweka. December 2016 Congolese Protests
On 20 December 2016 the Democratic Republic of the Congo's president, Joseph Kabila, announced that he would not leave office despite the end of his constitutional term. Protests subsequently broke out across the country, which had never had a peaceful transfer of power since it gained independence in 1960. The protests were met with the government's blocking of social media, and violence from security forces which left dozens dead. Foreign governments condemned the attacks against protesters. On 23 December an agreement was proposed between the main opposition group and the Kabila led-government under which the latter agreed not to alter the constitution and to leave office before the end of 2017. Christophe Mboso N'Kodia Pwanga (born 7 August 1942) is a Congolese politician who was the President of the National Assembly from February 2021 to May 2024 and is currently the second vice-president. He leads the political grouping Action of Allies of the Convention for the Republic and Democracy (Alliance des alliés de la convention pour la République et la démocratie, AACRD). Career Born in 1942, he graduated in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in political and administrative sciences from the University of Lubumbashi. In February 2021, he was elected as the President of the National Assembly following an election in which he received 389 votes out of 460. Jeanine Mabunda Lioko Mudiayi (born 10 April 1964) is a Congolese lawyer and politician who in 2019 became the first woman elected to lead the Democratic Republic of the Congo's National Assembly. She was impeached on December 10, 2020, through a democratic vote by the National Assembly with 281 votes. Early life and education She was born on 10 April 1964 in Kinshasa and is from Équateur. She graduated from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium with a degree in law and from the ICHEC Brussels Management School in economics. Antoine Gabriel Kyungu wa Kumwanza (24 October 1938 – 21 August 2021) was a Congolese politician. Career A member of UNAFEC, he served as President of the Provincial Assembly of Haut-Katanga from 20 February to 21 August 2021, President of the Council of Administration of the ''Société nationale des chemins de fer du Congo'' from 2019 to 2021, and twice served as Governor of Shaba/Katanga, from 1991 to 1995 and again in 1997.
