Étoile FC
Étoile Football Club was a professional association football, football club from France based in Commonwealth, Singapore, Commonwealth, Singapore, that was formed to play in Singaporean S.League in 2010. Étoile was the first team of players all born in Europe to play football in Singapore's professional league, and the first in Asia. The club was mostly made up of players of French origin. Étoile then made history by becoming the first foreign team to win S.league title, sealing the title on a dramatic final day with a 4–2 victory over Albirex Niigata (S). Hadama Bathily (born 18 June 1985 in Rouen) is a French Guianaian association footballer who played for Etoile FC in the Singapore S.League. He plays as a goalkeeper. Career Hadama Bathily signed for Etoile FC for the 2011 season. He made his debut for the club in the clash against Tanjong Pagar on September 26. in which Etoile FC ran out 6-1 winners. Controversy Bathily was embroiled in controversy during the Match #86 clash between Etoile FC and Hougang United, in which the game was called off before kickoff due to an all-in brawl involving both squads. Both teams gave varying descriptions of how the fight occurred, however the fight is believed to have started during the pre-match warm up when an Etoile FC ball was kicked into the Hougang United warm up area. Hougang United Football Club is a professional football club based in Hougang, Singapore. The club competes in the Singapore Premier League, the top tier of Singaporean football. Founded in 1998 as Marine Castle United, the club changed its name to Hougang United in 2011. Nicknamed the Cheetahs, Hougang United has played its home games at Hougang Stadium since its formation. Ludovic Casset (born 10 July 1978), also known as Mã Trí, is a French former footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. Career Casset was a youth member of FC Sens (France) and played at U15, winning the National Cup in 1994, and at U17 at the national level. At age 20, Casset injured his anterior cruciate ligament. In 2002, he signed for AJ Auxerre and played mostly with the reserve teams. In 2004, he was invited by the Vietnam Football Federation and became the first overseas Vietnamese to train with the Vietnam national football team, ahead of the 2004 Tiger Cup. However, he could not obtain his nationality in time and was not selected for the final squad. Gombak United Football Club was a professional football club based in Bukit Gombak, Singapore that last competed in the top tier of the Singapore football league system. The club took part in the S.League from 1998 to 2002, and from 2006 to 2012. During the early years of the S. League, Gombak United played their home games at Bukit Gombak Stadium. They have won the Singapore League Cup once. History Prior to joining the S.League, the club was known as Redhill Rangers FC. The club than changed its name to Gombak United in 1998.
