The Prix Iris for Best Film () is an annual film award presented Québec Cinéma as part of its Prix Iris program, to honour the year's best film made within the Cinema of Quebec.Paul Townend and Maurie Alioff"Prix Iris" ''The Canadian Encyclopedia'', April 5, 2010. The 23rd Quebec Cinema Awards were held on June 6, 2021, to honour achievements in the Cinema of Quebec in 2020. ''Entertainment Tonight Canada'' (commonly shortened to ''ET Canada'') is a Canadian entertainment news television series that aired on the Global Television Network from 2005 to 2023. 20th Quebec Cinema Awards
The 20th Quebec Cinema Awards ceremony was held on 3 June 2018 in Montreal, to recognize talent and achievement in the Cinema of Quebec. It was hosted by actresses Édith Cochrane and Guylaine Tremblay, who also jointly hosted the 2017 Prix Iris. Formerly known as the Jutra Awards, the Prix Iris name was announced in October 2016. A new category, Best Sound for a Documentary Film, was created for the 2018 event, and the nominees for Best Film was increased from five to seven. The first winner was announced in spring 2018, with director and screenwriter André Forcier honoured with the Iris Hommage for 50 years of contributions to the province's film industry. Prix Iris
Prix was an American power pop band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1975 by Tommy Hoehn and Jon Tiven. The group ended up primarily as a studio project. Its recordings were produced by Tiven along with former Big Star member Chris Bell, who also played guitar and sang backup vocals. Prix is also famous for its use of banjo. Alex Chilton also participated in the recordings, along with session drummer Hilly Michaels. Although the group generated some major record label interest—notably from Mercury Records and Columbia/CBS Records—it ultimately only released a double A-side single on Ork Records in 1977 and a single on Miracle Records in 1978. Its only live performance came at a CBS Records showcase in 1976. In 1977, just as Ork Records released the first single and booked the group at CBGB, Prix broke up due both to Hoehn's unwillingness to remain in New York and to creative differences. Sophie Dupuis is a Canadian film director and screenwriter from Val-d'Or, Quebec, who studied at Concordia University and the Université du Québec à Montréal whose feature film debut ''Family First (film), Family First (Chien de garde)'' premiered in 2018 and was selected as Canada's submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards. The film was nominated for eight Prix Iris at the 20th Quebec Cinema Awards, including a Prix Iris for Best Director, Best Director nomination for Dupuis.
