''Éramos Seis'' ("We Were Six") is a 1943 Brazilian novel by Maria José Dupré about a struggling middle-class family in São Paulo. Praised by writer and critic Monteiro Lobato, it became a best-selling novel and was awarded the Raul Pompeia Prize for best work of 1943 by the Brazilian Academy of Letters. Dupré published a sequel called ''Dona Lola'' in 1949. ''Éramos Seis'' has been adapted as a telenovela five times, in 1958, 1967, 1977, 1994 and 2019. Plot ''Éramos Seis'' chronicles the struggles of a middle-class family in São Paulo through the eyes of its matriarch Dona Lola. Reception ''Éramos Seis'' was praised by writer and critic Monteiro Lobato and became a best-selling novel. It was awarded the Raul Pompeia Prize for best work of 1943 by the Brazilian Academy of Letters. ''Éramos Seis'' (''The Six of Us'') is a Brazilian telenovela produced by Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão (SBT) in 1994, based on the homonym novel by Maria José Dupré. The television series was written by Sílvio de Abreu and Rubens Ewald Filho and directed by Nilton Travesso, Henrique Martins, and Del Rangel. It was aired from 9 May 1994 through 5 December 1994, in 180 episodes. It was the fourth adaptation of Dupré's novel to TV: Rede Record made the first version in 1958 and Rede Tupi adapted it twice in 1967 and 1977. ''Éramos Seis'' (English: ''Once We Were Six'') is a Brazilian telenovela produced and broadcast by TV Globo. It premiered on 30 September 2019, replacing '' Órfãos da Terra'', and ended on 27 March 2020. It is based on the book of the same name written by Maria José Dupré. The series is adapted by Ângela Chaves, with the collaboration of Bernardo Guilherme, Daisy Chaves and Juliana Peres. It stars Glória Pires, Nicolas Prattes, Danilo Mesquita, Giullia Buscacio, André Luiz Frambach, Simone Spoladore, Ricardo Pereira and Cássio Gabus Mendes in the main roles.
