Énergie
Énergie is a Canadian radio network of French-language mainstream rock outlets broadcasting throughout the province of Quebec and portions of eastern Ontario, in Eastern Canada. They offer a personality-driven mix of francophone and anglophone classic rock and alternative rock songs, catering to a young adult audience. Although the flagship station is CKMF-FM Montreal, the 10 stations in the network usually have their own talent and format for each of their own markets. They are owned by Bell Media. Most "Énergie" stations broadcast in the same markets as Bell's adult contemporary network Rouge FM. History In December 1988, "Énergie" was created. CKMF-FM (94.3 Hertz, MHz) is a French language, French-language Canadian radio station located in Montreal, Quebec, owned and operated by Bell Media. Bell Media Radio, G.P. (formerly CHUM Radio), operating as iHeartRadio Canada, is the radio broadcasting and music events subsidiary of Canadian media conglomerate Bell Media, a division of BCE Inc.. The company owns stations across the country, including in most of Canada's largest radio markets. The company's programming is distributed to other stations across Canada via its syndication division, Orbyt Media, and it is also the local licensee of the Virgin Radio brand. iHeartRadio Canada's originated in 1945 as CHUM Radio which was then acquired by CTVglobemedia in 2007 and expanded upon the acquisition of Astral Media in 2013. CHIK-FM
CHIK-FM is a French-language radio station located in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Owned and operated by Bell Media, it broadcasts on 98.9 MHz with an effective radiated power of 41,000 watts ( class C1) using an omnidirectional antenna. The station's transmitter is located at Mount Bélair. The station has a mainstream rock format and is part of the "Énergie" network which operates across Quebec. CHIK started operations on July 29, 1982, as a sister station to the now-defunct CJRP and originally had an easy listening format, similar to CITF-FM and CHOI-FM as per their respective conditions of licence. CHIK switched to a CHR format a few years after opening because there were too many easy listening stations in the Quebec City radio market. Sirius Satellite Radio
Sirius Satellite Radio was a satellite radio ( SDARS) service that operated in the United States and Canada. Sirius launched in 2002, and primarily competed with XM Satellite Radio, until the two services merged in 2008 to form Sirius XM. Like XM, Sirius offered pay-for-service radio for a monthly subscription fee, analogous to the business model of cable television. Its music channels were presented without commercial advertising, while its talk channels carried commercials. Its content was not subject to the same FCC content regulation as terrestrial radio, which allowed both music and talk broadcasts to include explicit content. Sirius channels were identified by Nielsen Audio with the label "SR" (e.g. "SR120", "SR9", "SR17"). Rouge FM
Rouge FM (or Rouge) is a network of French-language adult contemporary radio stations broadcasting throughout Quebec, Canada. Established in 1990 as RockDétente, they are owned by Bell Media. All "Rouge" stations broadcast in the same markets as Bell's mainstream rock network, "Énergie", although Énergie also has a few stations in markets not served by "Rouge FM". Although the stations concentrate on French adult contemporary music, it would mix in English music as well (especially in areas outside of Montreal and Ottawa, where English radio service is not available) much like Cogeco's "Rythme FM" network, which has fewer stations than "Rouge". The flagship radio station is Montreal's CITE-FM. The Astral jingles on this network are different from the adult hits jingles used by Astral's English-language adult contemporary stations, nut the network uses a very relaxing acoustic tune. The NRJ Group (NRJ is an acronym read as ''énergie'' in French language, French, pronounced ) () is a French multimedia group based in Paris. Its founders are Jean-Paul Baudecroux and Max Guazzini. Since its foundation in 1981 as a Culture of France, French pop music radio station, it has grown and evolved to become the NRJ Group. All stations of NRJ Group carry around 40 minutes every hour of non-stop hits (or sometimes, "10 hits in a row"). CIBK-FM (''98.5 Virgin Radio'') is a Top 40/CHR radio station based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Bell Media outlet operates at 98.5 FM with an effective radiated power of 100 kW from a transmitter located at the intersection of Old Banff Coach Road and 85 Street Southwest, and its studios located in the CTV Calgary studios on Patina Rise SW in the Prominence Point neighborhood of Calgary. As of Winter 2020, CIBK is the 16th-most-listened-to radio station in the Calgary market according to a PPM data report released by Numeris.
