Émile Dubonnet
Émile Dubonnet (18 October 1883 - 4 October 1950) was a French balloonist active from 1908 to 1913. He participated in the 1908, 1909, and 1911 Gordon Bennett Cup in ballooning and was a member of the Aéro-Club de France. He won the La Grande Medaille de Aéro-Club de France in 1912. He holds a Fédération Aéronautique Internationale record from 1912-1913. Biography Dubonnet was born on 18 October 1883 in Paris to a winemaker. In 1910 he flew over Paris in his Tellier brothers aircraft. He started from Port-Aviation ("Juvisy Airfield") at Viry-Châtillon and made a landing at Bois de Boulogne. Dubonnet also helped form the first professional baseball league in France, the French Federation of Baseball and Softball, French Baseball Union, in 1912. The French Federation of Baseball and Softball (FFBS) is an authority managing Baseball in France, baseball and softball in France. It also manages cricket in a committee founded by an independent affiliated association, France Cricket. The FFBS was founded in October 1924 by Frantz Reichel who was its first president (1924-1931). Today, the FFBS is in a mission of being recognized as a public utility by the Ministry of Sports. It is part of the Olympic movement (baseball was an Olympic discipline between 1992 and 2008) and is a member of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee. The Bois de Boulogne (, "Boulogne woodland") is a large public park that is the western half of the 16th arrondissement of Paris, near the suburb of Boulogne-Billancourt and Neuilly-sur-Seine. Port-Aviation
Port-Aviation was an airfield in the Communes of France, commune of Viry-Châtillon in Seine-et-Oise (now in Essonne), France. It operated as a popular air racing and aviation exhibition venue and hosted civilian flight schools from its opening in 1909 until the start of in 1914, then as a training center for military pilots during the war. Situated on land prone to flooding, it closed in 1918. In its earliest years it was an internationally important aviation center. Although designed as an aviation event venue rather than as a true airport or aerodrome, Viry-Châtillon claims for it the title of "world's first organized aerodrome."
