) was a Belgians, Belgian painter, pastel artist, draughtsman, printmaker, illustrator, art historian and writer. His range of subject matter was wide and included nudes, interiors with elegant women, genre scenes, history paintings, portraits, Orientalism, Orientalist scenes, landscapes and still lifes.
