''Élet és Irodalom'' (, also known as ''ÉS''; meaning ''Life and Literature'' in English) is a weekly Hungarian magazine about literature and politics. History and profile ''Élet és Irodalom'' was first published as a literary magazine on 15 March 1957. In the 1960s its content expanded to include issues of public life in addition to literature. The magazine is published on Fridays and is based in Budapest. It is regarded as, "the premier weekly of the Hungarian liberal literati." Alliance Of Free Democrats
The Alliance of Free Democrats – Hungarian Liberal Party (, , SZDSZ ) was a liberal political party in Hungary. The SZDSZ was a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party and of Liberal International. It drew its support predominantly from Budapest among the middle classes, liberal intellectuals and entrepreneurs, with an ideological basis in social and economic liberalism. SZDSZ provided the first freely elected President for the Third Hungarian Republic, Árpád Göncz. The Hungarian Socialist Party (, ), commonly known by its acronym MSZP (), is a centre-left to left-wing social-democratic and pro-European political party in Hungary.
