Édinson Rentería
Édinson Rafael Rentería Herazo (born April 7, 1968) is a Colombian professional baseball executive and former player and manager. Originally signed by the Houston Astros organization, he played one season with the Brother Elephants of the Chinese Professional Baseball League, and with several teams in the Mexican League. Rentería was previously the president of the Colombian Professional Baseball League. He also owns two teams in the league, the Leones de Barranquilla and the Tigres de Cartagena. Since 2025, he has served on the board of the Colombian Baseball Federation. Playing career Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, Rentería's two brothers, Evert and Édgar Rentería, also played affiliated baseball, with Édgar eventually debuting with the Florida Marlins. As a youth, Édinson Rentería worked as a street vendor to support his family. He signed with the Houston Astros, debuting with the Gulf Coast Astros in 1985. Infielder
An infielder is a baseball player stationed at one of four defensive "infield" positions on the baseball field, between first base and third base. Standard arrangement of positions In a game of baseball, two teams of nine players take turns playing offensive and defensive roles. Although there are many rules to baseball, in general the team playing offense tries to score runs by batting balls into the field that enable runners to make a complete circuit of the four bases. Gulf Coast Astros
The Florida Complex League Astros are a Rookie-level affiliate of the Houston Astros, competing in the Florida Complex League of Minor League Baseball. Prior to the 2021 season, the team was known as the Gulf Coast League Astros. The team plays its home games in West Palm Beach, Florida, at the FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches. Caribbean Series
The Caribbean Series ( Spanish: ''Serie del Caribe'') is an annual club tournament contested by professional baseball teams in Latin America. It is organized by the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation. The series is normally played in February, after the various winter leagues have ended their national tournaments. The Dominican Republic has won the most Caribbean Series championships (23), with Tigres del Licey being the most successful team in the tournament's history. The series has been won by 29 teams from seven countries. Only two teams have won the tournament two consecutive years, the most recent being Criollos de Caguas from Puerto Rico in 2017 and 2018. The Latin American Series (''Spanish: Serie Latinoamericana'') was an annual baseball competition contested by the champions of the professional baseball winter leagues in Latin America and the Caribbean. The tournament was organized by the Latin American Professional Baseball Association (ALBP) as an alternative to the Caribbean Series. The first winner of the series was Mexico's Brujos de Los Tuxtlas, who beat the Tigres de Chinandega of Nicaragua in 2013. The last winner was Nicaragua's Leones de León, which defeated Mexico's Tobis de Acayucan in 2019. Tigres de Chinandega were the most successful team, with two titles in three appearances.
