Route 2 (Prince Edward Island)
Route 2, also known as Veterans Memorial Highway and the All Weather Highway, is the longest highway in the province of Prince Edward Island, Canada, at . It is a two-lane uncontrolled access highway that runs nearly the entire length of the province, from Tignish to Souris. Route 2 was recognized as the first numbered highway in the province in 1890, when it opened between Charlottetown and Summerside. It passes through the cities of Summerside and Charlottetown and roughly parallels the former primary railway line through the province, which was abandoned in 1989. The highway was first paved in the 1950s with many upgrades in recent decades. A perimeter arterial highway (ring road) across the northern and eastern part of Charlottetown was constructed as part of Route 2 in the 1990s with funding from a $200 million federal adjustment fund for road construction after the railway was abandoned. Kings County, Prince Edward Island
Kings County (2021 population 18,327) is located in eastern Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is the province's smallest, most rural and least-populated county. Kings County is also least dependent upon the agriculture industry compared with the other two counties, while being more heavily dependent on the fishery and forest industry. Comparatively large parts of the county are still forested and it hosts the province's largest sawmill. The only heavy industry, aside from forestry and industrial farming, is a small shipyard, although secondary manufacturing has been established in recent years. The county was named by Capt. Fortune Bridge is a small unincorporated area on Lot 43, East Parish, King County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is located west of the Town of Souris. Author Elmer Blaney Harris built a summer home and founded an artist colony in Fortune Bridge. Local residents, including Lydia Dingwell (1852-1931) of nearby Dingwells Mills, would be the inspiration for his play '' Johnny Belinda''.
