É o Tchan! is a pagode band from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil that started in 1992. History Originally called Gera Samba, they debuted with their hit single ''Pau Que Nasce Torto / Melô do Tchan, Segura o Tchan''. Their first album, called ''É o Tchan'' (1995), sold triple platinum. After legal problems, the name of the band changed from Gera Samba to É o Tchan, and with this name, they released the album ''Na Cabeça e na Cintura'' (In the Head and in the Waist), a reference to one of their signature dance moves. The group became popular because of the combination of catchy melody and simple lyrics, with choreography performed by two dancers, a blonde (''loira do Tchan'') and a brunette (''morena do Tchan''). Both became big stars and did ''Playboy (Brazil), Playboy Brasil'' covers, with the Carla Perez (actress), Carla Perez cover being the bestselling until 1999, when the Tiazinha and Feiticeira issues outsold her. Pagode
Pagode () is a Brazilian style of music that originated in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as a subgenre of Samba. Pagode originally meant a celebration with food, music, dance, and party. In 1978, singer Beth Carvalho was introduced to this music, liked it from the beginning, and recorded tracks by Zeca Pagodinho and others. Over time, pagode has been used by many commercial groups, which have included a version of the music filled with clichés, and there is now a sentiment that the term is a pejorative for "very commercial pop music" (see Samba#Pagode Romântico, Pagode Romântico). Débora Brasil
''Débora'' is an experimental novella by Ecuadorian writer Pablo Palacio, published in Quito in October 1927. In 2007, the novella was included in a compilation of the author's complete works by publishing house Libresa. The plot of the book follows ''Teniente''—a character who's only referred to by that name and who is never fully defined— during a walk through the streets of Quito in search of a love conquest or any event of importance, which ultimately never comes. The novella is made up of a series of passages that depict several everyday events in Teniente's walk. These passages are constantly interrupted by the ramblings of the narrator, his comments on the protagonist, and the tedium caused by the very construction of the plot.
