Åkra is a village in Kvinnherad municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the north side of the Åkrafjorden, about northeast of the village of Skånevik. The village sits in the far southeastern corner of the municipality. It sits at the end of Norwegian County Road 40, a road running from Dimmelsvik to Åkra where it ends. The village area is fairly isolated, with only one road in and out, sitting in a small valley with mountains and a fjord surrounding it. In physical geography, a fjord (also spelled fiord in New Zealand English; ) is a long, narrow sea inlet with steep sides or cliffs, created by a glacier. Dimmelsvik is a village in Kvinnherad municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the south shore of the Hardangerfjorden, about south of the municipal centre of Rosendal, Norway, Rosendal and about northeast of the village of Uskedal. Skånevik (village)
Skånevik is a village in Etne municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located along the Skånevikfjorden, near the entrance to the Åkrafjorden. The village lies across the fjord from the village of Utåker in neighboring Kvinnherad municipality. The municipal centre of Etnesjøen lies about straight south across a mountain, although one must drive about around the mountain to get there. The village has a population (2019) of 571 and a population density of . Historically, the village was the administrative centre of the old municipality of Skånevik which existed until 1965. Skånevik Church was the main church for the old municipality, and it is still in use in the village today. Åkrafjorden is a fjord in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the municipalities of Etne and Kvinnherad. The long fjord reaches a maximum depth of . The fjord flows from the southern part of the Folgefonna National Park, draining the huge Folgefonna glacier. The fjord then flows to the southwest before emptying into the Skånevikfjorden near the village of Utåker. The Langfossen waterfall runs down the steep cliffs on the south side of the fjord, just west of Fjæra. The village of Fjæra lies at the innermost end of the Åkrafjorden and the village of Åkra lies on the northern shore of the fjord, about mid-way through the fjord. The European route E134 highway runs along the southern shore of the fjord, and due to the steep mountainsides along the fjord, there are several long tunnels as part of the E134 highway that go through the mountains rather than along the shore.
