Älvsbyn Municipality
Älvsbyn Municipality () is a municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Norrbotten County in northern Sweden. Its administrative centre, seat is located in Älvsbyn. The present municipality has the same size as the original one, created at the time the municipalities of Sweden were formed in 1863. 1948-1968 a part of it constituted a market town (''köping'') and a municipality of its own, but the entities were reunited in 1969. Geography The municipality stretches along the Pite River for about 60 kilometres in a naturesque surrounding. Köping
''Köping'' was a Swedish denomination for a market town since the Middle Ages, derived from the Old Norse word '' kaupang''. The designation was officially abolished with the municipal reform of 1971, when Sweden was subdivided into the Municipalities of Sweden (currently amounting to 290). As present-day Finland was once a part of Sweden, the Finnish word ''kauppala'' has the same meaning. 2022 Swedish General Election
General elections were held in Sweden on 11 September 2022 to elect the 349 members of the Riksdag who in turn elected the Prime Minister of Sweden. Under the constitution, regional and municipal elections were also held on the same day. The preliminary results presented on 15 September showed the government parties lost their majority, which were confirmed by the final results published on 17 September.
