Ângelo Da Cunha Pinto
Ângelo da Cunha Pinto (2 December 1948 – 7 October 2015) was a Portuguese-Brazilian chemist and professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Born in Marco de Canaveses, Portugal, Pinto was one of the more prominent national chemists with a specialism in the natural products of Brazil. He was qualified as a pharmacist from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1971, and earned a master's degree in chemistry at the Instituto Militar de Engenharia, and a PhD in organic chemistry at the same university he taught at, under the guidance of Roderick Arthur Barnes. He received several awards and is acclaimed as one of Brazil's most influential scientists. The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (, UFRJ) is a public university, public research university in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Marco de Canaveses () is a city and municipality on Porto district, in northern Portugal. The population in 2011 was 53,450, in an area of 201.89 km2. The city itself had a population of 9,042 in 2001. Geography The city of Marco Canaveses is strongly influenced by its topography, with mainly areas at altitudes between 200 and 600 meters, reaching the highest levels in Aboboreira and Montedeiras Mountains. The highest point of the county is situated at an altitude of 962 meters, in Aboboreira Mountain, which is shared by the municipalities of Marco de Canaveses, Amarante and Baião.
