ﾃ］gela Auad (born February 1945; "disappeared" 17 or 18 December 1977) was an Argentine social activist. She worked with the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo (''Madres de Plaza de Mayo'') to locate victims of forced disappearance during the Dirty War. Because of her activism, she was kidnapped, tortured and murdered. Political activism Auad was first arrested when she was a college student in Tucumﾃ｡n; she was released in mid-1975. In 1976, her husband Roberto Genoves was imprisoned in Chaco Province. Because of this, Auad came into contact with the Relatives of Those Disappeared and Detained for Political Reasons (''Familiares de Desaparecidos y Detenidos por Razones Polﾃｭticas'') and the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, who were seeking to find their children. Esther Ballestrino
Esther Ballestrino de Careaga (20 January 1918 窶 disappeared 17 or 18 December 1977) was a Paraguayan biochemist and political activist. She is most notable for her connection to the future Pope Francis and her forced disappearance (abduction and murder) in Argentina by the military dictatorship of the National Reorganization Process (1976窶1983). She had helped found Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, which organised protests by the mothers of missing children taken by the authorities. Life Ballestrino was born in Paraguay, where she obtained a doctorate in biochemistry. She became politically active as a member of the socialist February Revolutionary Party; she later founded and led the Women's Movement of Paraguay.
