Álex Carbonell
Àlex Carbonell Vallés (born 15 September 1997) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Dutch club Almere City. Club career Born in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona, Catalonia, Carbonell initially joined FC Barcelona's La Masia in 2003 at the age of six. He left the club in 2011 for Cornellà, but returned in 2013. On 29 August 2015, while still a youth, Carbonell made his senior debut with the reserves by coming on as a late substitute in a 0–0 Segunda División B home draw against Pobla de Mafumet. On 21 November of the following year, shortly after being promoted to the B-side, he signed a new five-year deal with the club. Carbonell made his first team debut on 30 November 2016, starting in a 1–1 away draw against Hércules, for the season's Copa del Rey. Sant Cugat del Vallès () is a town and municipality north of Barcelona, Catalonia. Known as ''Castrum Octavianum'' in antiquity (which means ''the castle of Octavianus'') and as ''Pins del Vallès'' during the Second Spanish Republic, it is named after Saint Cucuphas, who is said to have been martyred on the spot now occupied by its medieval monastery. Segunda División B (English: second division B) was the third tier of the Spanish football league system containing 102 teams divided into five groups, until it was replaced by the new structure in 2021. It was administered by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. In association football, a substitute is a player who is brought on to the pitch during a match in exchange for an existing player. Substitutions are generally made to replace a player who has become tired or injured, or who is performing poorly, or for tactical reasons (such as bringing a striker on in place of a defender). A player who has been substituted during a match takes no further part in the game, in games played under the standard International Football Association Board Laws of the Game. Substitutions were officially added to the Laws of the Game in 1958. Prior to this most games were played with no changes permitted at all, with occasional exceptions in cases of extreme injury or players not arriving to matches on time.
