Ági Szalóki
Ági Szalóki (born October 17, 1978) is a Hungarian folk singer. She has performed internationally with world music and folk revival bands, including Besh o droM and Ökrös. Career Szalóki began singing as a toddler, reportedly drawing inspiration from Márta Sebestyén. She first gained recognition for her performances with Ökrös, where she sang in a traditional folk style, and later with Besh o droM, a Balkan gypsy brass band. In 2005, Szalóki began a solo career exploring various genres, such as jazz, 1930s ballads, and children's music. She has performed worldwide, including at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Glastonbury Festival, the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, in New York, and in Beijing. Szalóki is trained in the Kodály method. In 2015, Szalóki was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, but the effects have been largely mitigated by medical treatment. Zoltán Kodály
Zoltán Kodály (, ; , ; 16 December 1882 – 6 March 1967) was a Hungarian composer, ethnomusicologist, music pedagogue, linguist, and philosopher. He is well known internationally as the creator of the Kodály method of music education. Life Born in Kecskemét, Kingdom of Hungary, Kodály learned to play the violin as a child. In 1900, he entered the Department of Languages at the University of Budapest and at the same time Hans von Kössler's composition class at the Royal Hungarian Academy of Music. After completing his studies, he studied in Paris with Charles-Marie Widor for a year. In 1905 he visited remote villages to collect songs, recording them on phonograph cylinders. In 1906 he wrote a thesis on Hungarian folk song, "Strophic Construction in Hungarian Folksong". At around this time Kodály met fellow composer and compatriot Béla Bartók, whom he took under his wing and introduced to some of the methods involved in folk song collecting. The two became life ... András Bozóki
András Bozóki (born 23 January 1959) is a Hungarian sociologist and politician. He served as Minister of Culture between 2005 and 2006. He is professor of political science at Central European University. His research areas are political change, political systems, Central European politics, political ideologies, the history of ideas and the political role of the intelligentsia. Life He studied at Eötvös Loránd University and obtained a Doctor Juris in law in 1983 and a Master of Arts in sociology in 1985. After graduation, he got a teaching position at the university, where he taught at the Department of Sociology and Law (since 2013 named as Department of Legal and Social Theory).
