.Modern
Modern (, styled as ".Nowoczesna") is a centrist to centre-right political party in Poland. It is currently led by Adam Szłapka. It was formed in 2015 as "NowoczesnaPL" although it had to change the name to ".Nowoczesna" later that year due to a dispute with the similarly named Modern Poland Foundation. Its first president Ryszard Petru served until 2017, when he was succeeded by Katarzyna Lubnauer. It first gained seats in the 2015 parliamentary election, and in 2018 it joined the Civic Coalition to participate together in the local elections. Szłapka was elected as the president in 2019. Modern is a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, and it is orientated towards the principles of liberalism, neoliberalism, and classical liberalism. 2018 Polish Local Elections
The 2018 Polish local elections were held on October 21 for all 16 regional assemblies (''sejmik wojewódzki''), 380 county (''powiat'') councils, and 2477 municipal (''gmina'') councils. There were also direct elections for heads (''wójt'') of municipalities and mayors, with a second, run-off round for these offices on November 4. The local elections were a victory of the ruling Law and Justice (Poland), Law and Justice (PiS), though the opposition Civic Coalition (Poland), Civic Coalition (PO) maintained control of the majority of cities, including the capital Warsaw. Ryszard Petru
Ryszard Jerzy Petru (born 6 July 1972) is a Polish politician. He served as an assistant to several members of parliament in the 1990s. He has worked as an economist for the World Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers and several Polish banks. Since 2011, he has been the chairman of the Association of Polish Economists. He is the author of several books, including two children's books on economics. In 2015, Petru founded a liberal political party .Modern (.Nowoczesna). The party received 7.6% of votes in the 2015 Polish parliamentary election. Petru was elected to the Sejm from Warsaw (19) district. Adam Szłapka
Adam Stanisław Szłapka (born December 6, 1984, in Kościan) is a Polish politician, political scientist, and local government official. He has been a member of the Sejm (Polish Parliament) for the 8th, 9th, and 10th terms (since 2015). He has served as the leader of the Modern party (Nowoczesna) since 2019 and has been the Minister for European Union Affairs in Donald Tusk's third government since 2023. TVN24
TVN24 is a Polish 24-hour commercial news channel, launched on 9 August 2001. Being a part of the TVN Network, TVN24 has been owned since 2018 by US-based media company Warner Bros. Discovery ( Discovery, Inc. before 2022). It gained broader popularity after the September 11, 2001 attacks in the US, which was the first major incident to be covered by TVN24. 2015 Polish Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Poland on 25 October 2015. All 460 members of the Sejm and 100 senators of the Senate of Poland, Senate were elected. Katarzyna Anna Lubnauer (''née'' Libudzisz; born 24 July 1969) is a Polish politician, feminist, mathematician and academic teacher. She is a member of the Polish Parliament and a former leader of the liberal Modern (''.Nowoczesna'') political party. In 2023, she was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of National Education.
