''(the) New Release'' is the second studio album by American nu metal band Primer 55. Released on August 14, 2001, the album peaked at number one on the ''Billboard'' Heatseekers chart and number 102 on the ''Billboard'' 200. It had one single, "This Life," which peaked at number 37 on Mainstream Rock Tracks. This would be the band's final record with Island Records, who allegedly cut support shortly after the album's release due to the September 11 attacks. Recording Primer 55 had underdone various lineup changes preceding and during the recording process of ''(the) New Release''. After the band's first eighteen months of touring, guitarist Bobby Burns started writing the band's second major label album. He played all guitars and bass in the studio and brought in ex-Helmet drummer John Stanier. Primer 55 is an American nu metal band which formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1997. The name originated from the combination of Primer, meaning "something that's unfinished", and 55, which refers to Interstate 55, "the road that drugs run on to get to Chicago through Memphis". To date, Primer 55 has released two studio albums: ''Introduction to Mayhem'' (2000) and ''(The) New Release'' (2001). After disbanding for the first time in 2003 and reuniting from 2007 to 2015, the band announced another reunion in June 2025. Kiss (commonly styled as KISS) was an American rock music, rock band formed in New York City in 1973 by Paul Stanley (vocals, rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (vocals, bass guitar), Ace Frehley (lead guitar, vocals) and Peter Criss (drums, vocals). Saxophone
