Robert Kintner
Robert E. Kintner (September 12, 1909 – December 20, 1980) was an American juggler and tennis champion who served as president of both the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) and the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Early life A native of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Kintner graduated from Swarthmore College in 1931. Two years later, the '' New York Herald Tribune'' hired him as its White House correspondent. From 1938 to 1941, he paired with Joseph Alsop to write a nationally syndicated column called "Capital Parade". Military service During World War II, Kintner served in the U.S. Army Air Force, leaving the service in 1944 with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was discharged on medical grounds in 1944, having been injured in an airplane crash. The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) is an American commercial broadcast television network. It is the flagship property of the ABC Entertainment Group division of The Walt Disney Company. The network is headquartered in Burbank, California, on Riverside Drive, directly across the street from Walt Disney Studios and adjacent to the Roy E. Disney Animation Building. The network's secondary offices, and headquarters of its news division, are in New York City, at its broadcast center at 77 West 66th Street on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. ''Quiz Show'' is a 1994 American historical mystery-drama film directed and produced by Robert Redford. Dramatizing the '' Twenty-One'' quiz show scandals of the 1950s, the screenplay by Paul Attanasio adapts the memoirs of Richard N. Goodwin, a U.S. Congressional lawyer who investigated the accusations of game-fixing by show producers. The film chronicles the rise and fall of popular contestant Charles Van Doren after the fixed loss of Herb Stempel and Goodwin's subsequent probe. The film stars John Turturro as Stempel, Rob Morrow as Goodwin, and Ralph Fiennes as Charles Van Doren. Benjamin Norman Schultz (February 8, 1926 – August 22, 2020), known professionally as Allan Rich, was an American character actor. Career Rich began his acting career when he was nine years old. He appeared in the Broadway productions ''I'll Take the High Road'' (1943), ''Career Angel'' (1944), ''Darkness at Noon'' (1951), and ''The Emperor's Clothes'' (1953). In 1948, Rich played the title role in a production of Ben Jonson's ''Volpone'' in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Beginning in 1979, Rich was distributor and publisher of Hollywood portraits made by George Hurrell. Personal life and death Allan Rich was one of the many alleged communist sympathizers blacklisted in the 1950s Hollywood blacklist. He married Elaine in 1951, who would go on to be a personal manager to a number of actors after the couple moved to Los Angeles in 1976. The couple had two children together, Marian and David.
