Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Hasan ( ms, محمد بن حسن, label= Jawi, script=arab, italic=unset; born 2 May 1956), familiarly known as Tok Mat or Mat Hasan, is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Minister of Defence in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim since December 2022. Rantau
Rantau (Chinese: 晏斗) is a small town and a mukim in Seremban District, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Location Rantau is 16 km south of downtown Seremban, 20 km ENE of Port Dickson and 49 km south-east of Kajang, Selangor. It is surrounded by several hamlets including Kuala Sawah, Siliau, Pedas and Ayer Kuning, and is the main town in the region with facilities like banks, mini market, quick-service restaurants and a post office. The Dewan Rakyat (English: 'House of Representatives'; ) is the lower house of the bicameral Parliament, the federal legislature of Malaysia. The chamber and its powers are established by Article 44 of the Constitution of Malaysia. 2018 Negeri Sembilan State Election
The 14th Negeri Sembilan State election was held on 9 May 2018, to elect the State Assemblymen of the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly, the legislature of the Malaysian state of Negeri Sembilan. The previous state election was held on 5 May 2013. The state assemblymen is elected to 5 years term each. The Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly was dissolved on 7 April 2018 by the Head of State (Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan) on the advice of the Head of Government (Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan). The election was held concurrently with the 2018 Malaysian general election. In a historic result, Barisan Nasional (BN), the ruling coalition was ousted from power by Pakatan Harapan (PH). A by-election was held on 13 April 2019 for the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly seat of Rantau. The seat became vacant after the uncontested election of incumbent Mohamad Hasan of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component of Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition was declared null and void. In the 2018 elections, Mohamad Hasan, the 3-term former Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan won the seat uncontested after People's Justice Party (PKR)’s candidate Dr Streram Sinnansamy was not allowed to enter the Nomination Centre to file his papers. However, the Election Court has on the 16 November 2018, allowed the petition by Dr S. Streram and passed a ruling that Mohamad Hasan had not been duly elected.
