Marselisborg Hospital
Marselisborgcentret, formerly Marselisborg Hospital, is a rehabilitation hospital in Aarhus, situated on ''P. P. Ørums Gade'' in the borough of Marselisborg. The original hospital was established in 1913 and has been repurposed for rehabilitation, including related research and innovation, in 2001. A project at the rehabilitation centre, known as Spark, aims at creating a local public meeting space for everybody, including the well-functioning. The Spark project includes a café and canteen, and communal projects in the associated Rehabilitation Park. History Marselisborg Hospital was originally Aarhus' epidemiological hospital, replacing the former epidemiological hospital (from 1875) in ''Ny Munkegade'', where Samsøgades School is situated today. Central Denmark Region
The Central Denmark Region ( da, Region Midtjylland), or more directly translated as the Central Jutland Region and sometimes simply Mid Jutland, is an administrative region of Denmark established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish municipal reform. The reform abolished the traditional counties (''amter'') and replaced them with five new administrative regions. At the same time, smaller municipalities were merged into larger units, cutting the total number of municipalities from 271 to 98. The reform diminished the power of the regional level dramatically in favour of the local level and the national government in Copenhagen. The Central Denmark Region comprises 19 municipalities. Scarlet Fever
Scarlet fever, also known as Scarlatina, is an infectious disease caused by '' Streptococcus pyogenes'' a Group A streptococcus (GAS). The infection is a type of Group A streptococcal infection (Group A strep). It most commonly affects children between five and 15 years of age. The signs and symptoms include a sore throat, fever, headache, swollen lymph nodes, and a characteristic rash. The face is flushed and the rash is red and blanching. It typically feels like sandpaper and the tongue may be red and bumpy. The rash occurs as a result of capillary damage by exotoxins produced by ''S.pyogenes''. On darker pigmented skin the rash may be hard to discern. Scarlet fever affects a small number of people who have strep throat or streptococcal skin infections. Marselisborg is a small borough of Aarhus, Denmark. Being small and situated just south of Frederiksbjerg, Marselisborg is often considered part of Frederiksbjerg. History Like most of the boroughs outside the inner city of Aarhus, Marselisborg is a relatively new neighbourhood and got its name from the Marselisborg Manor, when the city council of Aarhus acquired the estate from the Marselis family in 1896. National Romantic Style
The National Romantic style was a Nordic architectural style that was part of the National Romantic movement during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is often considered to be a form of Art Nouveau. The National Romantic style spread across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, and Latvia, as well as Russia, where it also appeared as Russian Revival architecture. Thorkel Møller
Thorkel Luplau Møller (28 July 1868 – 21 December 1946) was a Denmark, Danish architect who primarily worked in and around Aarhus at the turn of the 20th century. Stylistically he worked in the National Romantic style and later Baroque Revival architecture, Baroque Revival. Biography Thorkel Møller was born in Sorø, Denmark. He was the son of Hans Georg Møller and Julie Augusta Luplau. He moved to Copenhagen where he obtained a degree in architecture from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in 1898. He conducted travel studies to Germany and Italy between 1897 and 1900. He was initially employed by architects Hack Kampmann and Martin Nyrop but in 1900 he was hired by ''Jydske Landboforeninger'' in Jutland. In 1902 he exhibited at Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition. Ludvig Petersen
Ludvig Adolph Petersen (31 May 1848 – 10 April 1935) was a Danish architect, teacher, and a founding member and board member of the Danish Association of Architects. Petersen primarily worked as an architect in Vejle and Aarhus. Career Petersen was originally trained as a carpenter between 1865 and 1868. He attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, where he graduated with a degree in architecture. Between 1872 and 1880, he was a teacher at the technical school in Copenhagen. He later moved to Vejle, where he worked both as a teacher and principal in the Vejle Technical School between 1880 and 1888. From 1888 to 1918, Petersen lived and worked in Aarhus as a teacher at the city's technical school. From 1877 to 1880, he worked as the conductor at the renovation of Aarhus Cathedral under Vilhelm Theodor Walther. In 1880, Petersen opened his own architects' practice. Aarhus County Hospital, or Aarhus Sygehus, Tage-Hansens Gade, was a hospital in Aarhus for 136 years, from 1882 to 2018. The hospital became a part of Aarhus University Hospital in 2011 in an administrative merger. Aarhus Municipal Hospital, or Aarhus Sygehus, Nørrebrogade, was a hospital in Aarhus, serving 125 years from 1893 to 2018. The hospital was a department of Aarhus University Hospital and had sections for oncology, orthopedic surgery, medicine and neuro surgery. It also had an emergency department and was one of four trauma centers in Denmark. In 2018 and early 2019, the hospitals functions were relocated to the new headquarters of Aarhus University Hospital in the northern borough of Skejby.
