KSIT
KSIT (99.7 FM) is an American radio station licensed to serve the community of Rock Springs, Wyoming. KSIT's sister stations are KQSW 96.5, KRKK AM 1360, and KMRZ-FM. History KSIT signed on as the only classic rock station in Sweetwater County in 1978 at 104.5 FM. KSIT is also an affiliate of ''The Rockin' America Top 30 Countdown'' with Scott Shannon throughout the 1980s. The studios were located on Sunset Drive. In 1997, the station changed call letters to KMKX, playing a mix of formats from country to rock. It was owned by Sunset Broadcasting. The station returned to classic rock and the KSIT call letters in 1999. Prior to 1999, the station's competition included now sisters KQSW and KRKK. Big Thicket Broadcasting acquired KSIT shortly after. Frequency change In 2005, KSIT moved its frequency from 104.5 to its current 99.7 MHz to clear the path for the Utah radio station KYLZ to move to 104.7 MHz and change its city of license to Lyman, Wyoming. KQSW (96.5 FM) is a country music formatted radio station broadcasting from Rock Springs, Wyoming, serving southwestern Wyoming. The station is owned by Big Thicket Broadcasting of Wyoming, who identifies themselves as WyoRadio, which includes local sister stations KSIT, KMRZ-FM, and KRKK. KRKK
KRKK is a commercial AM radio station broadcasting from Rock Springs, Wyoming on 1360 kHz. KRKK broadcasts from two towers near its studios on Yellowstone Road in Rock Springs, Wyoming and is owned by Big Thicket Broadcasting Company of Wyoming. The current programming format is oldies under the branding ''Unforgettable Memories.'' History Prior to 1974, KRKK was known as KVRS and was operating on 1400 kHz. That station signed on in 1942, but was licensed in 1938. On April 1, 1942, it became an affiliate of the Mutual Broadcasting System. The station became KRKK at 5:30 AM on September 1, 1974. During its beginnings, the station carried top 40 programming, but switched to oldies some time in the 1980s. The station aired an oldies format from Cumulus Media. Aspen Mountain (Wyoming)
Aspen Mountain is a long mountain located approximately south of Rock Springs, Wyoming and south of Arrowhead Springs, in Sweetwater County. The mountain gets its name from patches of Quaking Aspen trees located on the north and southern faces of the mountain. Various older topographical maps name the mountain "Quaking Aspen Mountain". Its primary use is for radio communications and it houses towers for various local and state companies. Other uses Aspen Mountain also houses repeaters used by local highway patrol and local police and fire services for Sweetwater County, which are also present on nearby Wilkins Peak. If the local emergency repeaters on Aspen Mountain fail, they are automatically switched to the Wilkins Peak repeaters, and vice versa. The mountain also houses amateur radio repeaters, and a long range radar station (operated by the FAA) is the mountain's most visible feature. KMRZ-FM (106.7 FM) is a radio station licensed to Superior, Wyoming. Carrying a top 40, the station serves the Rock Springs area. The station is owned by Big Thicket Broadcasting Company of Wyoming.
