Gregory Sedoc
Gregory Sedoc (born 16 October 1981 in Amsterdam, North Holland) is a Dutch hurdler. Career He reached his first international final at the 2007 European Indoor Championships in 60 metres hurdles, and won the event, equalling his personal best time of 7.63 seconds which was established in the previous rounds and beating fellow-countryman Marcel van der Westen by 0.01 second. Commenting on the win, Sedoc stated that "this is so ridiculous. Unbelievable. I never thought I would be able to become European champion... Getting a one-two in the final has never happened to the Netherlands before and it's fantastic." Sedoc followed this up with a silver medal at the 2009 European Indoor Championships. Valery Sedoc
Valery Sedoc (born 4 September 1985) is a Dutch former professional footballer. He most notably played for Eredivisie club Groningen between 2003 and 2006, making 7 appearances. Career Sedoc grew up in a family of athletes. His father Roy Sedoc is a Dutch former athlete who became multiple Dutch champion in the long jump and triple jump disciplines. His brothers Gregory, Jermaine, Randy are also athletes. Sedoc played professionally for Groningen where he made his debut on 9 May 2004 in a 2–0 away loss to Utrecht. Before that he played in the youth academies of Omniworld and Ajax. 2012 European Athletics Championships
The 2012 European Athletics Championships were held in Helsinki, Finland between 27 June and 1 July 2012. This edition marks the beginning of a new two-year cycle of the European Athletics Championships which were previously held every four years. The decision to grant the games for Helsinki was made by the European Athletics Congress on 9 November 2009. Another city that showed interest in hosting the event was Nuremberg, Germany, however Helsinki was in pole position during the whole process. This was the third time that the city had hosted the event, 1971 and 1994 being the other occasions. Athletics at the 2008 Summer Olympics were held during the last ten days of the games, from August 15 to August 24, 2008, at the Beijing National Stadium. The Olympic sport of athletics is split into four distinct sets of events: track and field events, road running events, and racewalking events. The 11th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) was held in Moscow from March 10 to March 12, 2006 in the Olimpiyski Sport arena.
