Bolbec
Bolbec () is a commune in the Seine-Maritime department in the Normandy region in northern France. Its inhabitants are called ''Bolbécais'' or ''Bolbécaises''. Geography A farming, quarrying and light industrial town situated at the heart of three valleys in the Pays de Caux, some northeast of Le Havre. It is the source of the river Commerce, though here it is known as the river Bolbec. The town has many small lanes (''ruelles'') with some pretty houses. History The first written record of the town dates from the end of the 11th century, as ''Bolebec''. Archeological discoveries indicate that the site has been inhabited since ancient times. The first lord of Bolbec was Osbern de Bolbec (around 992) and the last was the Duc de Charost who was executed during the French revolution. The river Bolbec () or Commerce () is one of the rivers that flow from the plateau of the southern Pays de Caux in the Seine-Maritime ''département'' of Normandy into the Seine. It is long. The river rises at Bolbec and passes Gruchet-le-Valasse, where its name changes to the Commerce. It then passes through Lillebonne and joins the Seine at Notre-Dame-de-Gravenchon. François Amable Ruffin
François Amable Ruffin (31 August 1771 – 15 May 1811) was a general of division in Napoleon's First French Empire. He was mortally wounded while leading his troops against the British. Biography Having been captain of a company of volunteers from Bolbec, he was named commander of the 7th Battalion of Seine-Inférieure on 20 September 1792. He fought in the French Revolution and subsequently in the battles of the First French Empire, seeing action at the Battle of Austerlitz in 1805 and the Battle of Heilsberg in 1807. His conduct at the Battle of Friedland in 1807 saw him given the title of ''comte de l'Empire'' and promoted to general of division (''général de division''), and he took command of Marshal Victor's I Corps. Ruffin joined the Peninsular War, leading I Corps into Spain in September 1808. Bohmte
Bohmte is a municipality in the district of Osnabrück, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the river Hunte, approx. 20 km northeast of Osnabrück. The foundation of today's Bohmte is a result of the regional reorganization of 1972, when the towns of Bohmte, Herringhausen-Stirpe-Oelingen and Hunteburg were consolidated. Bohmte introduced a new road system in September 2007, designed to reduce the dominance of the motor vehicle. Ostercappeln is a municipality in the district of Osnabrück, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated in the Wiehengebirge, approx. 15 km northeast of Osnabrück. Jacques Marie Prevel (July 27, 1915 in Bolbec – May 27, 1951 in Sainte-Feyre) was a French poet. His real first name was Jacques, but he added 'Marie' not to be mistaken with Jacques Prévert, whose surname is pronounced in a very similar way. The Pays de Caux (, , literally ''Land of Caux'') is an area in Normandy occupying the greater part of the French ''département'' of Seine Maritime in Normandy. It is a chalk plateau to the north of the Seine Estuary and extending to the cliffs on the English Channel coast; its coastline is known as the Côte d'Albâtre. In the east, it borders on the Pays de Bray where the strata below the chalk show through. Cauchois is a notable dialect of the Norman language. The Pays de Caux is one of the remaining strongholds of the Norman language outside the Cotentin (or Cherbourg) peninsula. The principal communities are Le Havre, Dieppe, Fécamp, Yvetot, and Étretat. Swaffham Bulbeck is a small village in East Cambridgeshire, England. Swaffham Bulbeck is located about from the city of Cambridge, and from the famous racing town of Newmarket.
