Caux Seine Agglo
Caux Seine Agglo (before November 2017: ''Communauté d'agglomération Caux vallée de Seine'') is a ''communauté d'agglomération'' in the Seine-Maritime department of the Normandy region of northern France. It was created as a ''communauté de communes'' on January 1, 2008. It is a communauté d'agglomération since January 2017. It evolved from an amalgamation of three earlier communautés de communes - Port-Jérôme, Caudebec-en-Caux and Canton of Bolbec. Its area is 574.3 km2. Lillebonne () is a commune in the Seine-Maritime department in the Normandy region in Northern France. It lies north of the Seine and east of Le Havre. In 2019, it had a population of 8,797. History Before the Roman conquest of Gaul, Iuliobona was the capital of the Caletes, or inhabitants of the Pays de Caux. It was destroyed by Julius Caesar and afterwards rebuilt by Augustus. Before it was again ruined by the barbarian invasions, it had become an important centre whence Roman roads branched out in all directions. It was an administrative, military and commercial city located close to the Seine. La Frénaye
La Frénaye is a commune in the Seine-Maritime department in the Normandy region in northern France. Geography A village of forestry and farming in the Pays de Caux, some east of Le Havre, at the junction of the D484 and D982 roads. History The village is located on an old Roman road which runs from "Juliobona" (Lillebonne) to "Rotomagus" ( Rouen). Another Roman road linking "Breviodurum" (Brionne) to "Mediolanum" (Évreux), also crosses La Frenaye's borders. The name comes from the Latin fracsinus, meaning "place of the ash trees". The Gallo-Roman period is often mentioned in the history of the region, many relics having been found in excavations and having discovered the foundations of two military camps protecting the Roman roads.
