Groove Metal
Groove metal, sometimes also called neo-thrash or post-thrash, is a subgenre of heavy metal music that began in the early 1990s. The genre is primarily derived from thrash metal, but played in slower tempos, and making use of rhythmic guitar parts. History Early career Ill Niño was formed as El Niño by former Pro-Pain drummer David "Dave" Chavarri in May 1998. He enlisted Merauder vocalist Jorge Rosado, guitarist Daniel Gomez, and bassist Christian Machado, taking on the role of drummer and percussionist himself. Cristian Machado (born July 23, 1974) is a Brazilian musician who is the vocalist of the heavy metal band Lions at the Gate. He is also the former vocalist for the nu metal band Ill Niño as well as a featured vocalist in the Roadrunner United project. Ahrue Ilustre (born September 17, 1968), commonly known as Ahrue Luster, is an American guitarist. Thomas Cummings (born April 15, 1982), better known under the stage name Tommy Vext, is an American heavy metal singer known as the former lead vocalist of Bad Wolves, Divine Heresy, Snot and Westfield Massacre. He has also released several solo albums. Career Early career Vext began his music career in Brooklyn, New York as a teenager singing in local hardcore bands and engaging in freestyle rap battles with the neighborhood's preeminent hopefuls.
