Alternative Metal
Alternative metal (also known as alt-metal) is a genre of heavy metal music that combines heavy metal with influences from alternative rock and other genres not normally associated with metal. Groove Metal
Groove metal, sometimes also called neo-thrash or post-thrash, is a subgenre of heavy metal music that began in the early 1990s. The genre is primarily derived from thrash metal, but played in slower tempos, and making use of rhythmic guitar parts. It was pioneered in the late 1980s by groups like Exhorder, Prong and Bad Brains, and then popularized by the commercial success of Pantera, White Zombie, Machine Head and Sepultura. History Early career Ill Niño was formed as El Niño by former Pro-Pain drummer David "Dave" Chavarri in May 1998. He enlisted Merauder vocalist Jorge Rosado, guitarist Daniel Gomez, and bassist Christian Machado, taking on the role of drummer and percussionist himself. With this lineup, the band released a self-titled EP. Gomez left the band soon after the EP's release, with various guitarists filling his spot. Cristian Machado
Cristian Machado (born July 23, 1974) is a Brazilian musician who is the vocalist of the heavy metal band Lions at the Gate. He is also the former vocalist for the nu metal band Ill Niño as well as a featured vocalist in the Roadrunner United project. Machado has also played in Headclamp and La Familia (rap group), La Familia, in addition to making numerous guest appearances on albums such as Sepultura's ''Nation (Sepultura album), Nation'', Soulfly's ''3 (Soulfly album), 3'' and 40 Below Summer's ''The Mourning After''. Ahrue Ilustre (born September 17, 1968), commonly known as Ahrue Luster, is an American guitarist. Thomas Cummings (born April 15, 1982), better known under the stage name Tommy Vext, is an American heavy metal singer known as the former lead vocalist of Bad Wolves, Divine Heresy, Snot and Westfield Massacre. He has also released several solo albums. Career Early career Vext began his music career in Brooklyn, New York as a teenager singing in local hardcore bands and engaging in freestyle rap battles with the neighborhood's preeminent hopefuls. Being too young, Vext had to sneak into clubs even for his own shows. In 1996, he formed the band Maniacal Disciple with friends Jim Donovan, Steve Perlmutter, and Mike Kontaras, eventually changing their name to "Vext" (a word he found in Wu-Tang Clan's lyrics), which eventually became his nickname after he started to be known as "Tommy Vext" in the New York hardcore scene. Jinjer ( "ginger") is a Ukrainian heavy metal band from Donetsk, formed in 2008. None of the founding members remain with the band. The current lineup considers 2009 as its official year of formation, with the arrival of singer Tatiana Shmayluk and guitarist Roman Ibramkhalilov.
