"45:33" and ''Sound of Silver'' (2006–2008)
In October 2006, LCD Soundsystem released a composition titled "45:33", as part of Nike's ''Original Run'' series. It was made available for download from iTunes.
Despite its name, the track is actually 45 minutes and 58 seconds long—the title being an apparent reference to vinyl speeds (45 and 33
RPM)—and was claimed to "reward and push at good intervals of a run".
However, it was later revealed that this was not the case, and that Murphy merely wanted the opportunity to create a long piece of music, akin to ''
E2-E4'' by
Manuel Göttsching.

LCD Soundsystem's second studio album, ''Sound of Silver'', was released on March 20, 2007, to critical acclaim. Praise included Mixmag awarding it the title Album of the Month, a 9.2 score from ''

The track was later named the second best song of the 2000s by Pitchfork.
